Will be interesting to see whether Bing can get its act together long enough to offer a monetization tool for bloggers ala Google Ads. Not much input on that here so I can only assume nobody cares? Or is there no faith in Bing being capable of delivering its own version of Google adsense competently?

I wouldn't say that Bing could never touch Google, but they certainly have a long way to go. Google should never take any serious competitor lightly because things can change overnight on the net. Remember the net's only about 20 years old in its modern form and GM was more than 100 years old and now it's probably toast. No one ever thought GM would be anything other that number 1 and look where it is today.

Google should take seriously any threat.

Yeah and bing seems pretty decent unlike their previous attempts.

Strange how MS are starting to concentrate more on search and Google are starting to concentrates on OSs.

You make them sound like Pokémon or something. They're only companies, anything could happen to make either of them lose respect in the future - some corporate snafu that makes the fickle users hate them could ruin them overnight. You only have to look at all the major banks that have crashed recently to see that even mega companies can go bust in no time at all.

quite frankly, I hope Google stays at top and maybe one day, hopefully they will be the only search engine remaining.

Let's talk about PPC on Yahoo/Bing. Ever since they merged, I am seeing dismal results from Yahoo/Bing. They used to be good for supplementary traffic to Adwords; but since the merger, I have not had any success with them at all...

Well I wouldn't rule out Bing, but it still has a long way to go. With the kind of promotion that it is getting now maybe a couple of years.

It's already been a couple years since this thread was started and Bing has gone nowhere. Despite spending millions on advertising, Bing loses $500 million per quarter for Microsoft while Google makes billions doing the same thing.

I would hope that Bing is a threat to Google. If all the other search engines were to disappear and Google had a monopoly, then Google might stop trying hard to improve their search engine, and it would get steadily worse. If there are threats, then Google is forced to keep maintaining and improving their engine, which is better for us.

That is a serious ?'n my friend. Bing is gaining market share and Google is still doing great too. These are two technology giants that will never stop going at it with each other.
