bing does produce relevant results, and it does change things up a little

bing also produces "similar results" to google

bing deserves to be second place above yahoo - yahoo has gotten way behind

bing is a lot less friendly to optimization for serp - if you want to rank well, you must aim very high

I agree, bing is just doing well because of marketing hype, its getting mad press on magazines, television and other media. Once they cease to promote it everywhere, it will just be like msn search. They just overhauled the search engine, they never changed the web master tools, the advertising aspect or anything, so many busineses will not use it, or invest in it.

Yes. Let Microsoft, the owner of Bing and who controls 95% of all desktop computers, also control your web searches, too. Good idea.

Well all that I can say for bing it's bringing me lots more traffic since it was live. It has helped one of my sites that gets only search engine traffic and it has jumped from 30 pages a day to average of 60 pages in the last 2 weeks mainly from bing. I just hope they do keep it up.

Bing has the potential to take off if Microsoft markets it correctly, they need to inform Average Joe of the benefits of their product (If any) over Google. Many people just automatically go to Google out of habit and don't really consider the alternatives.

They already tried. They spent $100 million dollars on advertising. Didn't you see it? And Bing does little better than Live did still. So the average joe was not convinced.

Bing is dead. Being happy about getting traffic from Bing means little if you can't get good traffic from the search engine that matters to almost everyone.

I think they can compete. They are becoming increasingly popular with kids and the older crowds.

Bing won't be able to beat Google. Google's indexing is way too high to touch .

Right now, I'm having trouble seeing anything that really sets Bing apart from Google. Sure, there are differences, but none that really matter to the average internet user.

That leaves it to rely on marketing alone. And that's going to be pretty tough, since "Googling" has become a household word for "searching on the internet". That sort of built-in branding lets Google get away with being ho-hum.

I think this graph pretty much says who the competitor of Google really is:

Lol, Bing was first introduced in June. The graph ends at May. Please revise your data.

This is the actual graph with the date corrected.

Bing is growing very fast and fiercely. The search engine has beaten down CNN, Digg and twitter. And now coming over google. Google is trying a lot to maintain and keep their network strong still bing is capturing the market and people are getting confident over bing. Personally speaking I used to use good a lot but now its been ages I havent gone down to google just searching on BING. It will soon make a big market and will cross google some day! Lets wait for that day!!

    Cheers!

What a bald faced lie! No one has shown anything of the kind and none of the news agencies have said such a thing.
Another lie!! Statcounter shows Bing has lost 50% market share over the last few days. See the thread on this board.
