Is authority important with google?

I recently acquired (today infact) a premium 9 year old football domain, its a .com

I have made a football news website on it, is this important to ranking good on google search engines with it being almost 10 years old.

Also is it unlikely it will get sandboxed?

    Look forward to your replies.

    Regards

I believe that it would depend if the site was down or parked to an extent
but would assume that if its been live for all that time then it wouldnt have
to go threw the sandbox as it was never dropped.

Regardless you should be trying to gather as many relevant back-links
being you changed the content of the site (especially if different niche now)

If the domain has keywords surrounding the football niche then it shouldnt be
hard getting it to the top of google and other SEs due to its age and keyword rich domain,,

Good luck with your new domain

    thx

Not necessarily. Build original content in that site. Get more inbound links to that domain. And you will be fine. In fact there is a great probability that you'd rank high in SERPs.

If you remove all of the content of the old site and replace it with entirely new content, any trust that the website has acquired with Google may go down the pan. Buying new sites like this and replacing the content is a risky strategy, but if you execute it correctly it could pay off well.

The age of a domain doesn't make a site an authority.

These days Google seem to have give extra weight on authority websites, regardless of their SEO.

There is no sandbox, its just a hoax.

a 1 yr old site can be an authority site. It all depends on the quality of the backlinks to the site. So if your 9 yr old domain has good trusted backlinks, then it will retain the authority, else it is just another dropped domain or another site out there.

domain may be a factor (although no one knows for sure), but it is also about how you promote it. If you adopt a good back linking strategy then there should be no problem

I guess the lifetime of a domain does not matter.. Whatever old it is, you need to create backlink and use of seo tool to get higher rank on google..
How is your current page rank for this site??
