With the proliferation of audio and video that plays automatically when you visit a website, is it something that adds a different dimension to your surfing or does it make you want to get off the page as quickly as possible? Personally, I listen to music when I'm surfing traffic exchanges, for instance, and audio drives me mad and actually turns me against the websites that incorporate it. If you feel the same way and use Firefox as your browser here are a couple of add-ons that will help get rid of the guilty components. They won't stop everything but will reduce the number of annoying sites dramatically. Stop AutoPlay - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1765/ AdBlock Plus - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1865/
It annoys the crap out of me! Stuff with a good voice, a Camtasia tutorial, or really anything that doesn't autoplay is OK though
Its very annoying, especially when sitting in the office unaware that the desktop speakers are on full volume. Nice plugins there.
I Think it is annoying when the visitor don't ask for it , but if a player was created then who wants to hear will enjoy , and who doesn't want to here will be happy too .
I own a traffic exchange and if there are any sites in rotation that happen to have sound, my members make sure I hear about it... If you really want to add sound to your site, make it short- just enough to draw the "what was that?" response from people that makes them take a second glance at the site. If it's a long musically or talking intro, it will most likely just annoy people and make them close your site without even looking it over.
Very, very, very, very... very annoying. Especially if it starts automatically. Audio is okay IF the user is allowed to start it by pressing a button. In "product sales pages" automatically starting audio/video is probably fine, since the whole website's idea is to get people's attention the first time they visit.
Annoying to the core. Especially if I open a lot of websites at once, I have no idea which one auto play the sound.
I actually don't understand why some webmasters still use audio in the background. It's driving me mad
If any video or audio auto plays it idrives me insane. I tend to listen to music or I'm on a remote desktop so some stupid video loading and lagging up my screen just forces me to close it.
