With the recent rush into the extension, .asia, can one assume it's going to be the next big thing online? Is it a wise investment, short and long term, Let's have your opinions
blimey this thread is doing the rounds. yes! short term business on generic names, maybe if asia take hold of the domain extension, saying that....most of the biggest asian sites have not bothered regging their .asia domains. so its a big up in the ari. i have seen a lot of people ( not just on this forum ) with large .com portfolio's slagging the extension off ( so i wonder if they are scared a bit ) the landrush auction will be the key i think in terms of pricing mid term. if ace.asia really went for 20k then theres money in the extension I am in for the short / mid term as i dont want to risk any major monies if it goes the same way as .eu why oh bloody why is there a new extension call .web or even .site instead of thousands of country extensions
No I don't believe so, it's a marketing hype created to sell domains that nobody asked for, I am afraid it will end up the same as the .Eu, no demand and hardly any value at all.
There is no marketing hype. The 'hype' is being created by newbies on all the forums going and registering hundreds of .asia domains thinking they are .com/.net. Not worth it, IMO. There will be a lot of drops next year. An extension doesn't mature in one year and we've already seen what happened with .EU. Everyone says .ASIA will be different, but NOPE! I don't buy it. If it isn't super generic like games.asia, houses.asia, loans.asia I wouldn't even bother. ESPECIALLY with .ASIA and people trying to "target the Asian market." I've said this before--there is a much MUCH better way to target the Asian market. It is just people are oblivious to real valuable domains and expect people to hand them "sensitive" information on a golden platter so they can make their money. Stick to what is known--.com/.net. Anything released after .com/.net is there to just increase the value of the current valuables.
I think if you look at the big picture, it's like online real estate. Asia has the world's largest internet population, and it would be wise to invest in it.
no matter how many extensions come up .com will stay the king even though i am asian i dont care about .asia lol shit thing
Hard to say at this point. But I don't think it's going to be the next big thing, but something decent yes. Going to be worth something? Yes if the names are but obivously not as good as .com and stuff like but if you get good names, its still probably worth it.
I have more faith in .me being the next best thing. I don't see .asia taking off. Maybe if you own seo.asia or business.asia or something like that.
IMO, no. asia is so broad and nobody cares if your website is from asia or not. Specific extension like cn, jp, in more worthy to invest.
Only time will tell. I have 3 .asia domains and if nothing else, they are an inexpensive investment if they pay off with traffic.
LOL based on what?? an opinion. well iceland football team is better than brazil IMO...................
Always the Big G will keep .com on the top. so .asia would be not a good choice but you can keep it aside
Usually we argue , .EU did not do so well, but have we ever looked upon things why?? First reason, there is ,es, eu. li,la, people are heck confused with these two letter domains, i think .asia stands out alone. And the largest population part of the world. Taking risk is a part of our life, if dont take risks, big dreams dont come true. Regards
No. Obviously the domain industry is monopolized by the .com but it’s near impossible to get one that’s going to be any good. If I were to spend some money and invest in some internet real-estate I’d do so with the .tv. I’m seeing it more and more and sooner or later everyone who surfs the internet will do so through the television. Most plasma, LCD televisions have USB connections and I’m pretty sure you can buy an LCD with built in PC. All this technology is pointing towards the most famous abbreviation in the world… TV. Having said all that it’s near impossible to get a good .tv, so unless you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth I'd forget it. .asia will never succeed, mark my words.
Made a few observations about this on my blog when the landrush phase was on: The Great Dot Asia Land Grab. I'm not a domainer, but for reasons noted above and in the post, .asia is a way for registrars and resellers to make money on keyword-rich domains. As far as SEO, most of these domains will be pointed to spam, much like the .cn extension. The target is not Asia but English-language search engines and a second chance for lexical turf which has already been claimed.
To answer the 1st question.....no To answer the 2nd question.....no It's a useless extention like .eu that isn't needed. Asian countries have their own ccTLDs.
