Really? I don't think so. It is a cheap and easy way to get a link, but they are far from quality.

The best links we have got come from link exchange.

If you are looking for traffic, most of our traffic comes from our blog and one or two local directories.

Do you already write and publish articles on article directories? If yes, try publishing your articles on niche blogs within your industry and keep replying to each comment, you may get some traffic this way.

Article writing is a good practice but you sould always have a mixture of best practices. Exchanging links with relevant and authoritive websites is another way. Being part of a community and post your comments in blogs (dofollow blogs are better) or giving great answer in a niche forum are great as well.

Articles are good to build back links. if you are only looking for traffic, then promote your website through social media and social networking sites. Micro blogging is also a good for traffic increase

Article Writing, submission, syndication & promotion are different steps of Atricle Marketing. Article Marketing is one of the best way of getting traffic as well as recognition on web. You can also get backlinks from some authority sites which helps in long term SEO aspects. contextual article writing s more beneficial.

I think article submission was much more effective before but has lost value in the past year. It is my experience.

    i actually support eitanya's answer + pmaro's
but with a bit to add, you should VOLUNTERY GIVE YOUR COMPATITORS UNIQUE CONTENT.
what i actually mean by that, is just submiting article's in article directory's or such places is not very valuable these days.
you can write a nice long article about a specific subject, insert a link to your site, and send an email to a competitors admin.
yes i know, a lot of them will not accept it, but even of you find a few that will,
it will be very valuable ( long article, with keywords that you use on the site, on a competitors site that also has most of the keywords ).
if you wont try , you will never know if you can.

The best links are regular links. Meaning not from directory sites.

Article writing to article sites is one way to get a good link.

Driving traffic to your site isn't easy and will not happen overnight. I suggest promote your site in forums, do some articles and submit it to article sites and post some comments on relevant blogs.

It's a good way to get one-way links, specially if you publish them in high-ranking article sites, as long as it is not the only means to get traffic. But the best? I don't know whether there is a "best" solution.... A mixture of multiple methods might provide IMHO the best results. If there is something that could be labeled the "best", then that's quality content.
