    Is Article marketing Google Friendly?

I don't want to get penalized for submitting relevant articles to articles directories.

Aren't articles good for your PR?

    Thanks,
    C

Yes they will help your PR and SERPS. You're not really going to be penalised by Google for any links, the worst that can happen is that Google ignores it or deems it to be worth 'no link value'...

If you submit the same article to multiple article directories, then surely it would be an issue of duplicate content.

I dont see how you'd get penalized for it, but might not do you any good either to submit to multiple directories, but you've peaked my interest on this subject. Im gonna go do some research of my own on this and get back to you

Well as far as I think, you should not get banned for article marketing. There is no reason for Google to penalize you for this. Suppose that I write this GREAT article and everybody starts linking to me or starts to copy that article and put it on their site (with due credit), would I have any control over it? Did I do that myself? No, of course not and Google or any other search engine so far has no technology that could tell where an article originated from. You won't get banned for it but what you can do is to write two articles. Keep one article 100% unique on your website and use the other one to market your site.

Other most experienced search engine optimizers might have a different opinion about it so you might also wana wait and see what other suggest you. I just shared my opinion and experience... basically, my two cents :)

The main problem with articles is that they will be seen as duplicate content. They may help increase your SE ranking - but probably not by much.

Don't be confused, though: articles are very helpful for increasing actual traffic to your Website.

We use article marketing and distribute our articles widely. Most articles are trashed as duplicate content but we have noticed the greatest increase in search engine rankings since we began but they always save atleast one and count it as a quality link in our back link checks. There is also tools out there that allow you to modify the article several times throughout the distribution process that eliminates the problem of duplicate content. PM me for details.

    Definitely worth doing...

what the heck are you talking about? The duplicate content wouldn't even be on your domain, it would be on the article site's and other people who published it.

And duplicate content is not a site-wide penalty people, it does not penalize your domain unless you do it on a extremely large scale.

They just wont rank the duplicate pages.

Most of the time though, the website's template is enough unique content to get the duplicate content indexed. It doesn't take much unique content to get a page cached.

You are not going to be penalized. I also use Article Marketing. I usually dont post on my site the articles I am distributing. But anyway, since I started using article marketing my Serp's have increased and have not seen any penalty so far.

I am going to have to agree with WunschShrek on this one, you will not get penalized for duplicate articles. The SEs cross check domains, IP's etc. you will not get a strike against you. As an example about a week ago I was doing research on a company I was planning on doing business with, I came across the same press release article on numerous domains, forums, etc, and it was on the first 5 pages of Google Search, and the main company was ranked number 1 on that search term as well. I'd say that article marketing worked great for them...I just did another search on them to be sure and they are still ranked number 1 and more of the same article "press release" has come up.
