Is article marketing dead?

I've read a lot of posts on here as well as in many other places, and they all say directory submissions is dead. Ok, it makes sense. I mean you post to thousands of directories to get a one way link, so google makes it ineffective.

However, with article marketing, has it got to become the same way? I mean you don't hear much about article submitting and stuff anymore.

I like to hear peoples' views and opinions on this. Anyone making lots of money by article marketing?

Ever aspect of marketing gets tougher over time since there is more competition. There are new people writing articles every day, so it is tough. However, it is still a great way to make money. Probably at least 75% of all the money I've made so far online has come from articles. Just concentrate on picking good keywords to optimize your articles for and try to get a few links to your articles.

At some point every marketing tactic is claimed to be dead. Look how long link exchanging has been going and how often that has claimed to have died.

Directory submissions lost appeal because getting links from higher PR sites simply doesn't help anymore to get higher PR.

But article marketing is still one of the most useful way to get backlinks as well as traffic. Its getting tougher because of higher competition over time.

Well of course it will be tough to rank #1 for a popular niche with your article even on Ezine but I still get decent amount of traffic from articles so I can't really agree that it is dead. It gets tougher though I agree.

Directories, like ezine, have always been on the bottom of the barrel. Only clueless noobs who are happy with a few hits here and there and a high bounce rate think otherwise.

Submitting to portals, content sites are better, but many times not by much.

Article marketing works for me, being my number one source of traffic. I do find that it is harder to rank but that just means hard work.

I have been submitting articles to a select few directories and it has worked out really well for me. What I look for is traffic, and when I check my stats I see quite a bit of my non search engine traffic coming from these sources.

If you are writing articles foor article directories (or even if you are hiring it done) you should also consider using sites like Squidoo and hubpages.

I just got an article approved 3 days ago. I'm getting 40% URL click rate from that one article already. Clicks from that one article may level off after time, but the key is to continue submitting articles of the same or better quality and attractiveness to users.

The good thing about HubPages (can't speak for Squidoo because I've never used it) is that you can add your Adsense account to the articles you publish and share in the revenue.

Same thing with Google Knol, though it's not as popular right now. The jury's still out on that one, but being an early adopter will pay off if it ever catches on.

I have made around $600-800 consistently with bum marketing monthly. It is all about keyword research pertaining to your product. Ezine articles is the best one by far as other like GoArticles never seem to rank as high for the same keyword.

Squidoo also has Ad revenue sharing. They give publishers 50% of earnings.

Squdioo is really pretty cool. You should consider checking it out (and for some shameless self promotion :) ) here is one of my pages http://www.squidoo.com/ghost-stories

Personally I think it will work if you have subscription member/customer and feed them interest articles. Because they trend to be customers from their interest in subscription and get motivated to react with Articles.

Ask merchants who're paying hundreds to Yahoo Directory and Business.com annually - they'll tell you how 'alive' is directory submission; ask people who're making tons of greens by using just article marketing, they'll tell you how profitable article marketing can be (if any of them are willing to tell the truth).

The fact is that most Internet marketing methods are not dead - we just need a smarter way to use them. Personally, I am a big fans of article marketing. It's free, it can be viral, it create real values to the readers when done right, and it brings real traffics to my websites.

One thing people need to realize is that,

if article marketing dies, the internet dies, because content makes the online world go round.

    1. PPC is dependent on people who use Adsense
    2. Adsense is dependent on content provided
    3. Content Provided is dependent on Blogs, Websites, and Article Directories [mostly article directories]

I create around ten to 15 variations of one article
Write ten different resources box, summaries and titles
I then use automated article submission software to post random combination to 600 directories targeting only long tail keywords.

I then write a press release an submit it once again using software

By using this method I have been able to earn consistently 200 to my best day one account 800 us per day.

While it is true there are many people writing articles most give up when the results don't come quick

Many don't use cloaking or redirects that allows you to choose your own keywords and have no clue how to put hooks into their articles to get the readers to click through.

You want to give your readers a reason why they should visit your links in your resource box.

Next step most people don't do is create links to the articles they submit to help them rank better.
Once again i use software to achieve this.

I also create rss feeds using long tail words and submit them also using software

This is a lot of work and now i pay others to do a lot of it for me but in the beginning it was my main source of income.
