Is anyone making money through Amazon?

I'm always curious as to why people promote Amazon gifts rather than Adsense. I've started using Adsense recently. Can you really make anything with Amazon?

I had a few months that were really good but it seems to go up and down drastically for me.

To make money on amazon you need a site that gets good amount of traffic and then you need to sell them something exactly what your site is on. If you are just displaying random amazon ads or something you might think they could be interested in then it usually dont work out that well.

I have tried amazon without much success really! you need a serious site to succeed unlike adsense which works almost on all sites!

In terms of effort to revenue potential Amazon sucks. There are much better individual affiliate programs which you can sign up for, IMO.

I've ran amazon product links (the iframe picture things) on 4-5 pages on my website. I only put them there because the pages were quite text heavy and I wanted something to look at. I completely forget they where there til I saw this thread. Upon checking I've made about $3 in 2months. Not really much, but then again the links are on 4-5 relatively low traffic pages (a couple of uniques a day maybe). That makes me think, what would happen if I stuck them in 200 pages? They would be easy to integrate (infact, they would fit quite nicely). So, I'll have to add them and get back to you guys :D

    Cheers for the idea :D

Can I ask, how is money earnt through these amazon ads? Do you get paid per click, or do you get a percentage of the sales generated by your ad?

Amazon has works great for me. I use amazon market place to advertise my products, put affiliate link on where to buy in various website I own directing traffic to purchase my product from amazon. I get to make a mark up on my product + affiliate commission + other items they purchase through amazon.

    I get a cheque every 3 months.

Products generally seem to convert at about 4-5% which I think is pretty good. Pity the commissions suck.
