For a company like Amazon with almost 100 billion in Market Cap, I am really surprise of how crappy amazon astore is. About a year ago I tried a using an astore but just dumped it after realizing that when you add a product into the subcategory it doesn't apparent in the parent category. It's completely retarded and makes no logical sense. I have never seen another site work like this and it's definitely not the convention. I msged Custom Support about it, and this was what they said. "Thanks for sharing your thoughts and suggestions with us about having more products per page and having the items in the subcategory show in the primary category. Unfortunately, you can only have nine products per page. At this time products in the subcategory do not show up in the primary category. Feedback like yours is very important in helping us continue to improve our website and services. I appreciate your thoughts, and I'll be sure to pass your suggestion along." Til today, they still haven't done anything about it. On top of that I have to say the astore look horrendous. The least they could do it have it display a min of 4 products(if not 5 or 6) per row to get rid of the excess white space on the left side. Flexibility to customize any of this is very minimal as well. Does anyone else agree with me or am I missing anything?
There are many Wordpress plugins that can easily replace Astore. I wouldn't bother with it. Make a store the way you want it, not Amazon.
Astore haven't worked for me. So I never bothered about it. Pretty useless unless you make a custom build using their API.
avoid it at all cause man. as others have pointed out, better to use wordpress amazon plugin, there are some which pretty cool amazon plugins.
Amazon offers Product Advertising API. It's very powerful compared to aStore, but too complicated to learn.
I also agree that aStores are not good when it comes to customizing but they do offer the traditional look for an online store which is why these have higher conversion rates. One of my standalone Amazon aStore has a conversion rate of over 20% and I didn't even do any kind of SEO for it, just the right keyword selection at the time of creation
Thanks guys, I will take a look into your suggestions. Initially I was thinking of having an astore with my joomla site. Do you guys have any recommendations for amazon plugins for joomla?
I just started experimenting with the a store and like jonnah said its just so simple. and there are so many wp plugins that do the exact same.
As it's a new thing, I will give it a try, certainly, but if it is bad I will say so, and if it's good, I will also say so. Until that time comes, I reserve judgement.
