Absolutely, although I can understand why you may feel that way. The truth is making good money with adsense and affiliate programs (mostly affiliate programs for me) is much much MUCH harder and much more work than anybody trying to sell you a get rich quick eBook is going to let on to.

Of course people make money. The reason why most people fail is they don't put in the work. They want the quick fix and instant money. They here about the success stories and see how easy it appears to make money online. Sure there are the overnight successes, but those people are no different than lottery winners. Most success stories fail to mention the years of study, research, trial and error, and failures before attaining an online money making empire.
Yes people do make money. If people didn't make money then you would not see hardly any affiliate programs on the web. If people didn't make money, then that will mean the merchant is not making money from their affiliates and it would be pointless spending the time when it comes to having an affiliate program. Amazon has had their affiliate program for years and was one of the first I believe and they still have it, because it works.
People do make money with affiliate programs. Otherwise they wouldn't be around any longer. You just have to get creative!
There is still lots of money to be made with affiliate programs especially since new ones are popping up everyday. Ive done quite well recently, but like everyone there is a steep learning curve you must get through to be successful.
