Is anybody here familiar with Baidu.com SEO?

We are currently working with a SEO developer to make our site SEO on baidu.com. The SEO developer asked us to change our language metatags. However, we think that this tag does not really help as major search engines like Google make no use of this tag. So we'd like to know whether Baidu still uses metatag?

    Thanks

If I am right Baidu is the search engine used in China and is known as China's Google. Is your site targeted for China??

No experience with baidu. Baidu is the major search engine using in China and some way notorious for fetching illegal tools and information from net which is already banned in major search engines.

Actually Google WILL use the language information provided by the page's encoding data. It merely defaults to trying to manually detect the language if that info isn't provided.
