Hey everybody - long-time reader, first-time poster. I'm hoping somebody has some experience here that can help me out. I've run several Facebook ad campaigns for clients that have been pretty successful and I'm relatively experienced with the medium. I'm having an issue now, however, that I'm a little puzzled by. I have a Facebook ad campaign that targets a singular city (population approximately 10,000) in northern Minnesota.....it's part of a test marketing campaign. Anyhoo....I have all of my ads properly UTM-coded and set up as they should be. What I'm finding is that, according to Google Analytics, half the clicks of my Facebook ads have originated from outside Minnesota. And of the clicks that did come from Minnesota, all came from the Twin Cities. Not a single click has registered to my desired geo-targeted area, which of course is problematic. I went and reviewed my ads to make sure that I inputted them properly, and I had. I did switch the geo-targeting this morning from "target only City X" to "target City X and a surrounding 10 mile radius" on the off chance that doing so bypasses whatever bug is causing this issue. I also sent a help ticket to Facebook, but in either case, I'm not confident in the outcome. From where I sit, there are three situations in play: Google Analytics location tracking is broken (certainly possible, but I don't feel like this is likely. Although I'm aware of this tool's inherent limitations, tests that I have run in the past have shown this tool to be satisfactorily accurate) Facebook advertising geo-targeting is buggy (seems more likely, but hard to say for sure) Some combination of both Has anybody else had a recent issue with this? I've run plenty of Facebook ad campaigns in the past and while you always get 1-5% bleed on geo-targeting, I've never had it this bad before. Thanks for any help and advice! Neil
