I find that the more websites that I visit I am seeing less amazon affiliate items. Is it a problem with amazon or are they not paying competitve commisions?
I still do fine with Amazon. But nothing great. One huge problem is they don't seem to understand (ok I kid obviously they understand) the first W in www is World. You have to have an associate account and that has to be the link the visitors follows with the country from which the person orders the product from. So if you actually have worldwide visitors that is a big problem. If you just have USA affiliate links you maybe could make money from 10-60% of your traffic). For many other countries your results might be worse. So it is best for a site that is only having visits from 1 country and you have the site setup for that affiliate. Or you need to do stuff link have people login with their country... which is a bother if they don't have some good reason to already.
amazon is still at the very top of affiliate programs to promote. ebay and amazon get more traffic than most other sites so it commands customers. Think outside of the box when promoting amazon products and you will do well.
It depends on what you are promoting if you are selling books then the commisions will not be great compared to say ipods for example but you can make money with amazon.
I don't know how Amazon.co.uk can be good. I have once made a post about one interesting book that got 76,830 pageviews but could sell only 2 of these books via amazon...
It's a pity amazons payouts are so low because their affiliate program is very good. I only use them at Christmas these days because you can't really earn a decent amount without huge traffic.
For me, Amazon is the top of the line for Affiliate Program, Amazon is so easy, friendly and make me money always, not like others, I feel comfortable and I think it will be like this as long as....it can I love Amazon
I love amazon even they didn't give me much money they didn't make me lost too much money to promote.
Personally I think they have a pretty good percentage of payout, as long as you avoid some electronic categories, yet still on par with others. Just build on your transactions and you will climb the tier pretty quickly, I've had great success with them.
