What has your real traffic been? Alexa is mostly useful (if at all) to outsiders looking in. As the owner, Alexa only matters because it can verify your stats. Most folks on this forum have sites that are artificially high in Alexa rankings.

    People like himself. :D

Alexa is useless for them who aren't under 100K. I never got correct rankings in Alexa for my sites. There are too many people who brag about Alexa rankings. But it's pretty easy to artificially increase your Alexa ranking (if Alexa means a lot to you).

Download the Alexa toolbar and visit your site 1K times in a day. See the ranking.

Exactly, Alexa can be easily fooled. The sad thing about it is that TLA uses Alexa as one of their parameters for selling someone's ads...which means that tech-sites, which usually have tech-savvy visitors who don't use the crappy IE browser, are quite outplayed.

alexa updates every week i think or every other week.

I have www.domaining.in and the traffic is real. Don't even have alexa toolbar on my computer or anything, and it is still at 70k which i think is decent for a free web directory.

I think Alexa is a very important rank!
I measures your avg pageviews and reach. Depending on each one of those, your rank will go up or down, so if one day you had less pageviews, your rank goes down, if you had more, then it goes up, same thing for reach.

I have Alexa of 65k and average at 40k

    Hello..

As someone pointed out alexa can be manipulated very easily,I personally have it on all 3 of my sites but truthfully only do use it for the people submitting as they see a fairly decent low number and are more inticed to submit or buy featured links in these directories. I did notice something though that they are a page rank 8 site and do offer link sales at adbrite, have been thinking about it but will wait and see for better pricing elsewhere.

    thank you

you have to remember that alexa counts the traffic by people with the toolbar installed!

Umm lots of people? I know everyone says alexa is inaccurate at best, but when I'm looking to buy a site that's a huge factor. It doesn't give you an exact number but you can get an idea from it. Plus if you're a good webmaster you should try to increase everything you can. Atleast that's what I think.

Hmm.. would it be wise to look at Alexa when buying sites, with all that fraud I think the time to look at Alexa is NOT the time buying sites ?

I don't think Alexa ranking is fair.
If I have 1k of visitors daily, and only 10 of them are using Alexa toolbar.
You have only 400 visitors daily, but 15 of them are using Alexa toolbar.
Hence, your Alexa ranking will be better than mine, while my traffic is better than yours.
    Sounds crap.

In my opinion alexa can't be used for traffic measurments. like others said Its just freakin inaccurate ... Use google Analytics, Awstats or Webalizer to get very accurate stats that you can actually use

alexa isnt reliable because of that toolbar... if everyone had it then it would b a good thing, instead of that website owners should just place a piece of alexa code in that way everyone counts

Google has the same problem! Though it is not changing everyday, the number of results changes normally!
