Is "alot" a proper english word ?

    I've been using FF 2.0 for almost 4 months since beta/RC releases and i like the spell checker but strangely i see it putting red underline for the word "alot"

    isn't this a proper English word ?

    it doesn't underline the word "Google" though :D

    No, "alot" is not a word, but "lot" is. Therefore, "a lot" is the answer that you're looking for.
