Alexa Rank isn't worth shit, and no way determines traffic, backlinks, or a site's value. There are competing sites that have substantially less traffic than my own yet a lower Alexa Rank. It baffles me but only concludes that the Alexa Rank system is worthless and inaccurate; the system can also be easily cheated. Just because you have a low Alexa Rank doesn't mean your site has income, traffic, or good search engine ranking positions.
It helps..it's a good indicator at how well a website is doing traffic-wise, but not something as concrete. It's something to enhance the value, not be the sole source for valuating a domain.
Alexa is very important to show how well your site is doing to other sites...especially if you want to sell it.
Agreed that below the top 100,000 they ranking are not very usefull because they can be manipulated due to the small size of the Alexa sample set
Well, I like to look at my alexa rankings once in a while. It actually reflects correctly when my site visitors increase or decrease. But it is not a good tool to rank websites.
I always thought alexa was overly biased a disproportionate amount of people with an alexa toolbar are webmasters so webmaster related site are going to rank high even if they don’t get as much traffic as non webmaster related site.
I dont get any traffic from directory, therefore the alexa ranking on directory is nothing for me. I only look for PR. However, if you talking about forum, then alexa ranking can mean sometime since it can still drive traffic to your website even the PR is low
Alexa is ranking websites based on traffic and mostly traffic with alexa toolbar.it is worth something becasue so texlink websites will give you more adverts with site that is highly ranked by alexa.eg,textlinkads.Alexa is worth something...
IN the end its all about visitors. If you have a high alexa rank, you have a lot of traffic. If you have a high page rank, you have a high potential for visitors. In the end , neither of them are significant. The only significant number is your sales. If you only gte 10 visitors in a day, but they all make big buys ..I say you have a great web site
How alexa rank measure? Only people those have alexa toolbar that traffic count for alexa ranking or all over the web traffic count.
Alexa measure rank by people either having the Alexa toolbar or by sites that have an Alexa traffic widget.
Alexa rank means nothing more than you received a bunch of pageviews. You can actual hack the Alexa rank by creating a html file on your desktop. In this file you include an inline frame to your site. Also include a meta-refresh to refresh every 5 seconds. Do not upload this to the internet. GOOGLE hates frame.. Just open the html file you created on your desktop and let it run all-day for how ever long you wish. Just make sure to install the Alexa toolbar first. Alexa does-not track unique visitors or IP. they just track the X-amount of pageviews a site receives.
Alexa ranking shows real usage, PR show Google usage. But beware! Alexa ranking above the 50 000 rank doesn't mean anything. You only have to download the toolbar and go to your site once a day for two weeks, and you'll be at 200 000. I guess it's what happened to you.
