Is age of site important for SEO? How does google determine the age of the site or can we register our sites age in google?

Google's increasingly looking at freshness of content, so I think age is slightly less important that it was maybe a year ago. But I still feel that an old domain with a consistent registration is likely to rank more quickly than a brand new domain that Google's never seen before.

Age of domain is important from what I've read/seen but its also the easiest thing to fix. You literally have to do nothing, lol. Just keep your site up and focus on other things and just like all things, your site will gain age as time goes by.

Old sites are important because of their backlinks and link popularity. But if you have links from sites that are more than 2 yrs old with no page rank..then they are of no use.
