Is Affiliate Marketing Good ?

I need to ask this question since recently as I have been contacted by a few. Their banners would be placed in my sites and I would earn a commission stated. Is that a free link or are they going to pay for their banners inclusion ? I am confused with this method.

    Thanks

Not surprising it would confuse me too, they put a banner on your site say on a PR4 ranked page seems like a good deal to me

But what is in it for you is the question that needs an answer

New techniques supercede these methods imho

They say that I can get a commission ? But either way my opinion is that already is a FREE Link. I really don't understand this. I need someone to explain this on a wider scale. What would be the benefit for me if their banners get placed in my site ?

its of course a free link! and u only get paid if a sale is made from a person directed to their site from your site. Good thing is, they log the IP of the person and if 6mths later (varies for different affiliates) the person goes there and buys something, u will still get the commission.... lots of info on G, shld just search for it.

Are you talking about the email v7n sent around ? well not sure how that will work but if affiliate script used is good and company is good, i think u would actually get paid.

@jl255 who told u they log your ip for 6 months ? I thought these things used cookies which expire after a week or so, this is the first time i heard about it mate. Wana through some light on the same so i can enlighten myself ?

Serving affiliate ads can be good, but it depends on what youre promoting. Also, depends on how well the program converts into a sale.

Remember that the only benefit you get is if you can make a sale or lead from the clicks you send to the merchant. Otherwise, it is pretty much a free link to the merchant's site; no SEO value if it's a banner.

Hmm, interesting pr0 site starting off with affiliates , well if their name is not know i would personally not bother with it cause they might turn out to be hit n run cases.

It's a free link if you decide to add it as a direct link. Personally if I was ever to add affiliate banners at my directories I would use a javascript redirect in order not to provide a free link. Another option is to ad the banners in pages that are not indexed but might convert better like the thank you page after someone has submitted a link in your directory or the approval emails that you send.

So basically its a FREE Ride. I wonder how much other directory owners make from this coz this is interesting for me to know. I need to know how much "Average" monthly they get.

No its not popo , remember in marketing world nothing is "FREE" , you are giving them a backlink to their domain and flashy banner on your site.

    Cheers

What is this affiliate program about? If it has nothing to do with directories or webmaster stuff, I don't think you should run it on your directory.

Normally, affiliate programs work best when your site/directory is in the same niche.

Ok. Thanks all of you for explaining. But I still want to know how much average directory owners make a month so other owners could pay them and place banners in their directories. I still believe in 1:1 ratio which is "You Place, We Pay". As your explanation guys it all depends on sales. If there is non I think this is much better. I might be wrong though.

    @paidhosting
Your right. The only FREE stuff in this world is AIR. ;)

all i would say is its useless

i had it for over like 3 months on one of my site .. didn't get nothing ... it shows alot of people clicked on the banner and went to their site but bought nothing so i didn't get nothing .. this is i m talking about aviva / v7n affiliates ...

plus they hav a payout limit so if one person bought a link u r not going to get ur money ... !!!

i think v7n just removed their payout limit ... but thts wat aviva had ..

i mean idk how to get more people to click on my affiliate link and buy a listing there so i can reach my $75 and get the money ... lol

need 3 more ppl as i count to submit regular listing ..

in other hands wat are they gettin from you

Free Traffic !! Free Backlink !! << Helps them much more than it helps u

Exactly. Some folks are making thousands by promoting v7n directory - but they are most often SEO tutorial sites, or other web directories.

If your audience isn't into SEO or submission, then I doubt you'd make a lot with the program.

    v7n doesn't have a minimum payout.
