    Hi,

Is Affiliate Link masking bad for SEO? Will the search engine panalise masked affiliate links?

I have read that doing so will get the site panelised...

    Comments please. Thanks in advance.

    how would you be penalised?

if i choose to link to for instance seoelite.com and i want to use my clickbank affiliate link then i may choose to mask it using one of the various options.

one of the options is to use profit protector.

this will make a instant redirect page within a frame so i can send people to mysite.com/seoelite.html and what they will see is the seoelite homepage

what would google see as bad about this?

    in short

    no

masking affiliate links is your choice and i dont believe google will penalise you in any way.

just dont cloak all of your links.

    I don't think so.

If the cloaked link has 'nofollow' and goes via another page on your site, google in theory don't even know it's an affiliate link, rather than just another link to a page on your site that you don't want indexed.

Emmm... what i have read was that Search engine will know that the link is cloaking another site and therefore may be viewed as a form of deception.

I dunno, that was what i have read.
