Does anybody know if Adwords is worth the expense if you are not selling a high dollar item on your site?
I think it's an obvious answer...with the competition nowadays in the google search, i would go for selling item which has high price, as high as possible. At least by doing this, i can bid higher and still earn a positive ROI on my money spend:
I would sugest this is not a black or white answer. It depends on the CPC and competition The value of a click compared to the cost for your product What are the alternative and do they work
I tried it, basically a big waste of $50...then again I am working quite small, maybe a larger more targeted campaign by an experienced AdWords user would be more effective. It basically got me extra traffic, but not substantial enough...I could have gotten all of those visitors through free means and not have paid for it.
$50 is perhaps not a fair test. What were you promoting/selling? What Keywords did you use (generic/specific) Did your adverts/landing page have a clear call to action What actual keywords resulted in clicks. AdWords will not work for everyone however, to say it's not effective after a novice has spent $50 on an ineffective campaign is unfair
There are a lot of reasons why Adwords would fail: 1) Your competitors can convert traffic better than you (so they can pay more per click than you) 2) You haven't got the time or will to learn how Adwords works 3) You haven't got the time or will to manage your account. If you can convert traffic as well or better than your competition, and you know what you're doing, you should be able to make money on Adwords. But it'll probably cost you quite a bit when you're learning how to make it work.
AdWords-Advice: That is exactly what I said in my post. With $50 I was not successful at all but that could have been due to the low amount. Just posting my experience.
Oh okay.. AdWords is NOT an expense.. it's an advertising tool, just like an article (on which you spend time)... It's a means of driving the most vital part of any business... "traffic" or "prospects"...It's now your job to capture their interest in about 5 freakin' seconds and if you can't do that it's over... so... it's not as easy as it sounds (unless you know what you are doing and it can still be frustrating) I try to get as many cheap clicks as possible in as many niches as possible and focus on extremely high conversions... This leads me to about $60-$70 profit + 20-30 leads /day in each niche, now just multiply this with 10 niches and it's instantly $500-$700/day profit and 200-300 leads in different niches... understand? Also, using the power of content network you can really boost these figures off the charts. (today's status for dog training niche ($1 spent, 18 clicks, 8 conversions (leads) and 1 sale á $30...) That's while I slept... - Chris
