Is Adwords Effective for a Web Design Agency?

    Hello,

I'm new to this forum so please be gentle with me!

I work for a Web Design Agency and we have been running PPC on Adwords for a while now with little success. I have localised the campaign and phrase matched most of the keywords as we are only a small agency and cannot compete on a national scale. I believe our website looks good and all landing pages are relevant and we rank well for a lot of the keywords.

I am just wondering if any one else who has ran a PPC campaign for a Web Design agency has had any success and what techniques they would recommend?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hey chimpfish,

It would help if you wouldnt mind giving more detail such as your landing page, keywords, bidding strategy, etc..

What are your quality scores like for your keywords?

Are you using the search or content network?

I've run campaigns for a web designer years ago and more recently for web hosting and SEO services. These are all very competitive fields. I think you are on the right track to localise your campaign. Use phrase and exact matches too but stay away from content for now.

The click rate for these are low unless you are in 1-3 position. Seems people will click on sponsored searches above the SERPs but not those on the right side. I've found click rates to drop like flies for ads on the right side in those niches. And of course, you may be paying a few dollars per click. Still, your ads have to push the benefit of choosing you over someone else.
