Hey everyone, Ive jest been exchanging emails with AdToll in regard to a complaint I have about their system. I don't seem to be getting anywhere with them so I would love your opinion. I purchased banner ads on two websites the other day, and the ads where supposed to start yesterday so I rushed over expecting to see my ads up and running but to my disappointment my ad was not up. So I sent an email to AdToll, asking why my ad wasnt up, and they replied with pictures showing that my ad was up. So I decided to have another look. Still no ad, but I noticed that the ad was different this time - which was a bit weird, so I refreshed the page - another ad. They where rotating the banner ads, I saw atleast 6 different ads. I was under the impression that when you bought a banner ad that you got exclusive placement. I mean no where in their advertisers section does it say that you will be sharing the ad spot. Dan from AdToll just kept telling me that it does say something in the PUBLISHERS section (which really helps the advertiser doesnt it?) and I quote: but you are still sharing the ad spot? Am I being to pedantic? *** I just received an email from Dan, saying that he sees mu point of view and will look at his FAQ's but im surprised that noone else has said anything about this...
Yes, we do understand your point of view. No we are not being deceptive. The rate card displays stats as views and clicks PER AD/per week. The FAQ's also discuss Ad Pools and rotations. Yes this has been raised before, and we realise that a note on the rate card page would help alleviate this. We originally refrained from doing this because we felt (and with confirmation from some advertisers) that this would simply cause confusion, because the rate card does not show the total ad group stat. but the stats of the individual ads within the group. Example: A text as group, receives a total of 100 clicks in a week, it has 5 ads being served to it. The rate card will show 20 clicks/ad/week, NOT 100 clicks/ad/week. Is that clearer? If you can suggest any other way of making it clearer, then please make the suggestion. Ad rotations is nothing new, and many networks do this.
richkid Would this inclusion in the Advertiser FAQ make things clearer? "Your ad may be included in a rotation of multiple ads if the Publisher has set their Ad Pool size greater than 1. Please note however, the Rate Card displays statistics for each ad in the Ad Pool."
rishkid, please take a look at the updated Advertiser FAQ, section entitled "When will my ad appear?" http://www.adtoll.com/advertisers_faq I hope that makes it clearer for you and others. In no way are we trying to mis represent the booking information. Please let me know if this resolution is satisfactory for you.
hi paullie that is much better. I appreciate your high level of customer support and quick fix of problems
It's our pleasure. I take it you understand the concept of the Ad Pool, rotations and also understand the Rate Card stats? If not, just let me know.
I think that new line in the FAQ will help a lot of new advertisers. All networks that sell ad space for a set amount of time do it this way. They let the publisher choose how many ads to rotate in the zone/group. You should be happy you found this out on AdToll first because AdEngage and AdBrite show total ad group stats to advertisers. With AdToll you the stats apply to the average per ad in a group. So if you make that mistake it really doesn't make much difference. You just need to make sure the ad you are using is as good or better than the ones currently in the rotation.
If the Rate Card showed the total ad group statistic, now THAT is misleading. As you have said, if you make the mistake of thinking it was the total group stat, it makes no difference in this case. But I think it is clearer now with that FAQ change. Publishers always had the option of selecting how many ads they can have in their pools. Displaying stats on a PER AD basis is IMO the best way to represent the information, as we do. One more time: ADTOLL RATE CARDS SHOW STATISTICS ON A PER AD BASIS, NOT ON A PER GROUP BASIS.
hey Paullie, do you only pay via paypal? no e-gold or moneybooks? because paypal doesn't support more countries i think you may take into consideration to put more payment options.
