Is AdSense for Search really working for anyone?

You don't have to post your exact figures, and if someone posting estimates are against the tos, sorry mods.

Would I be better just doing my own site search engine with adsense ads appearing in results?

I have found the google search box doesn't pay very well compared to other programs. To get the numbers up, you need lots of users.

I've tried it out before with no success - however, that was only for a month. I want to use it again, but it's really pointless to me if I cannot get the search results to appear in my center column (I'm using a CMS).

I have few web sites which are in top 60K alexa sites and get very good traffic daily. Adsense for content is really helpfull and rewarding ;) while Adsense for search is not that impressive.

For me it works pretty good.

Site targeted ads pay the best in my case...
Followed by the search box and then the
    CPC ads.

You know you can use your own leading page ... right...
and search result on your own page....

Very informative...could you perhaps give some explanation or experiences that substantiate your claim?

I've only been with adsense 3 days now. I'm currently around $35, which I guess is good compared to other peoples earn haha. But I'm new so I'm still building as I own 2 sites. Anyways, getting back to your question, just look at this pic.

Content is way more lucrative than search - but when I *do* get the rare search click it usually pays toward the top end of my clicks.

Ad units definitely earn you more, but you can do alright with search. By your pic, I'd say referrals suck even more than search.

You've blotted out your cents column for some reason, but you may wish to check out the confidentiality section of TOS regarding the rest of the stats you've posted. You haven't posted your website so you should be okay, but need to be careful :)

Thanks, I've been lookin around this forum for an hour or so and seen many threads of ppl gettin bitched at for showing full numbers. So then I seen someone cover up one number so I did it too. Just left the 5 cents out so you all could see that searches are thumbsdown.

In my own tests; and I've been at it for a couple of years - joined up when it was a "new" program before most had heard about it - I have NEVER had enough success with adsense for search to make it worth continuing.

I would be interested in seeing the kind of results a site like mercola.com gets from it. It makes a lot of sense on a site like his.

One reason I attribute to poor performance is people searched to find you, they either find what they want or leave and go back to perform another search in the Search Engine they came from or just close your site.

I believe most sites are not big enough to warrant a search on the site. Another problem is the bot may crawl your pages but that doesn't mean it will use them in the Search. Crazy I know. You have site search implemented and it doesn't even return what you expect.

So I guess my answer to your posting is NO. Not for me.

This mirrors my opinion about Adsense Search.

First, I've been using it continuously for 2 years (too lazy to remove it) and it's earnings are and always have been terrible.

Second, if makes no sense for a new visitor to your site to use Adsense search. If they didn't find what they want, they usually leave and use the search engine (or referral link) which sent them to you.

Third, even when someone uses Adsense search, the payouts stink!

To me, it's not worth having on any of my sites.

I guess this means finding any Adsense search boxes on my sites and removing them. Hopefully a little work won't hurt.

Yeah adsense search is not a lucrative option to earn money unless you have very high traffic to site but in that case too you can much more through ad clicks rather than search clicks...

I think its clear that adsense search is nowhere near as good as the content ads. I've made $0.22 in 8 clisk from search, and $20 approx from 153 clicks from content.

2.75 cent compared to approx 13 cent CPC.
    1) the clicks are worth so much less from search
    2) much fewer ppl use it compared to content ads.

thats what makes it earn less imo.
