Is adsense a good idea?

I have been using adsense on my site for about 2 months.
The first month I had 300 visitors, next month about 600.
The problem is I get no clicks, is this normal with the kind of traffic I have?

Since I am not allowed to click on the ads myself a friend of mine did from his computer, it worked fine, the clicks was registered on my account. So there is no issues with the coding.

I keep asking myself why people are not clicking on the ads.
Anyone that have gone through this experience?
Hope to get some good advice.

Clicking on your own ads or asking others to do so is stealing and it is against Google Terms of Service. Eventually, you'll get caught by Google and banned for life, and rightly so.

It's going to take time to build up the kind of traffic that gets serious clicks or really, any clicks at all. It's very dependent on the subject of you site, also.. what is your site about? Sports, entertainment, computer info, health tips? That'll give us more information to try and help you :)

It seems like some of you are totally missing the point, I have no interest at all in letting a friend click on the ads. It was done with 2 clicks only to test out that adsense is working the way it should, ok. I have no intereset in stealing money from Google, but I had to find out if something was wrong. So you just have to look for the reason it was done. By now I hope you have a better understanding why it was done, it's nice to get it cleared up.

Thanks for answering. Sure it takes time to build traffic, but after several months I find it strange that I get no clicks on my ads. The subject is about poker (it's a blog).

Hmm... what is your bounce rate at? It could be that you're getting traffic who are 'ad blind' because they found your site at the bottom of the heap (no offense intended! I'm saying that new sites get indexed below older sites) and by the time they find you they're bleary eyed readers.. it also could be that your keywords in you content aren't calling up ads people want to click. Know what I mean?

Personally, it takes my sites 500 or so visitors a month before they seem to get a click but then it takes off after that. My sites aren't know for exceptionally high CTR by any means, though.

Hope some of this helps, at any rate!

Clicking your own ads will get you banned really fast if you don't know what you're doing.

300 visitors a month is almost nothing. You need to get 300 visitors everyday to start getting any real clicks. The more traffic you get, the more clicks you get.

Placement of the ads is where the click through comes into play. Look at the good sites that blend in the adsense with site content...very tricky unless you do a double take, you've already clicked on a Google Adsense :)

300 hits a month with about 2 Adsense should make you like $3. lawl

First at all, review your content. Second, check on your traffic source.
if both of them give you good answer, then change the ads placement

Yeh, you definitely need more traffic - at least 10 times more to get anything significant. Think about it, how often do you click on Google ads? And yes bending the ads is really important - try to make them look like another link withing your site. I find a horizontal line of ads directly under a horizontal navigation bar works quite well.
