I got this in my PM inbox...

I have omitted the full link but you get the idea.

Is this allowed on this forum?

    Thanks.

No, unless you asked him for the information then it's not allowed. It's called PM spamming and it is frowned upon.
If you forward it on to one of the moderators they will deal with it.

If it was spam then report it. If it was because you asked in a thread for details of some offer and this was the link given to sign up to it then it's perfectly fine (as far as I know).

I guess no one is allowed to PM anyone with anything unless it is solicited (with a rare exception or two)

Why not? Some people like to PM others to just say hi, or that they looked at their site and it looks pretty damn good, or something along those lines. I've done it on the odd occassion with designers, to tell them that their work is awesome or something.

I stand corrected, I meant PMs that deal with trade (i.e. commercial activity), I should have made it clearer, thanks for clarifying!

well i did start a thread asking where i could find a new affiliate program to join... so i guess that created the prerequisite for me to be ''legally'' pm spamed?

I see what you mean now :)
    Sorry for the missunderstanding anyway.

I guess so. I assume it wasn't for spamming reasons though, just incase you wanted to join up on that network someone thought they could make a quick couple of bucks. I wouldn't worry about it, you'll get it quite a bit if you ask for things like that.

An unthinking moment we call it.

If you didn't ask for the link then it is surely a spam.Forward the PM to any mod. They will do their duty.
