And exactly why not? Of course it can be worthy but it really depends on a case by case basis!

    or with adult sites:)))))))
frankly speaking, not all the visitors have time and are willing to watch videos
but of course, it depends if the video can attract their attention or not
i think it's worth trying just need more research and optimization before you develop this method:)

I guess it would help to know what site you are referring to but I have found that videos work really well for generating traffic and leads. As long as you are branding yourself and not the company I really don't see a problem. Many people miss the point that they should be branding themselves and not the company anyway.

I promote my site almost exclusively on video hosting sites. I have tried the link building suggestions and the directory submissions and found them to be seriously lacking.

My site is the fastest growing forum in its nitch. I get over 1,100,000 page views a month - most of that is generated from the referrals of my videos.

The referral rate of youtube and google compared by a poll on my site puts youtube referring about 20% - 30% more traffic then google. And my site is ranked in the top 10 on several google searches for my nitch. Sometimes its ranked #1 on certain google searches, and youtube still refers more people.

Videos are the best way to promote your site. Links are good for google to index. And how many people really use directory's anymore - almost ZERO! How many people are going to find your link from some unknown links directory, as compared to youtube?

    Example of my videos:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/survivalistboards
    Video Views: 1,128,244
    Channel Views: 42,783
    Subscribers: 1,928
    Videos Uploaded: 260

    http://www.metacafe.com/channels/survivalistboards/
    http://www.dailymotion.com/survivalistboards
    http://video.yahoo.com/people/1237490

The videos should match the content of your site. Do not do the same thing over and over again. Once you have the video edited and created, its just a matter of uploading it to the various video hosting sites.

So to answer your question, I have had great success marketing my site using videos. If I were to start my site over again, I would go straight back to using videos and ignore the links building / directory submissions suggestions. Following that line of thought was nothing more then a waste of time on my part.

If you want links - add them to your video descriptions. Make your own back links instead of submitting them to directories that no one is using anymore.

Do not wait for people to find you, go to them. Put your videos in front of their face. Where ever the most people are hanging out, that is where you want to be.
