Like 2 weeks ago, my friend and I started a blog www.usmansworld.com (check it out). However, we didn't set a specific niche and now we have a bunch of a little random topics that are covered in the blog. So, does a good blog need a niche? Or can it be randomnized like ours?
you could have all those topics under the niche of MENS STUFF! Defiantely could work. - Best of Luck!
it definately isn't required to have a niche...usually (as far as I've learned) it just makes it a little harder to market... if you focus on one niche...you can focus advertising on that one niche...and therefor get more targetted readers..
Is that not Ratman's blog? I'm sure I've seen that blog mentioned elsewhere. Edit: I get it now - you're Ratman's friend!
Nice way of promoting the blog As for niches go, having a niche is definitely a plus! I've tried blogs without niches and it's hard to get people to stick around if they don't know what they're visiting for. Of course if you entertain the crap out of them you'll do well.
It is eaiser with a niche site but you limit the topics you can write about. You should be fine with your blog the way it is.
Nice blog! You don't have to have a niche. I think in your case as long as you keep the content interesting people will be sure to come back. Yours looks to be pretty interesting.
Niche blogs are certainly easier to market, but as others have said, if your content is interesting, I suppose people would come back. Go for the niche if you can, though.
personally, I think that only well known bloggers can get away with posting in random topics. however, it's definitely possible to have success, but it'll probably take a lot longer. in random, personal blogs you have to sell yourself AS WELL as good content
The great thing about blog is that you don't need to organize everything in pages! Random posts is fine. I think your blog is fine the way it is.
Anyone can blog about anything they want to. That is the greatest thing about a blog. Afterall, the whole concept of blogs started as personal journals. On the other hand, if you are looking to build a very popular and succecssful site, then you'll have a WAY easier time by choosing a niche.
2Dolphins is not exactly random, just, um, diverse. To me, that's the difference between a blog that's personal versus a blog that's more aimed at generating revenue. As others have said, a blog with a variety of topics can be harder to categorize and market. I've run into this when submitting to directory sites. Which category does my site best fit into? This can be a real challenge to decide sometimes. And you run the risk of labelling your site with a category that either doesn't represent it well or relegates it to the B-list because it is such a off-the-beaten-path kind of niche. Rob
@ CountryBoy, yes it is my blog. My friend helps write articles though. Thanks for the feedback, I will take it into consideration, but right now, I think we have interesting articles as they are.
The Name Seems to be like Personal blog.. I'd make it a Personal blog but I think if you dont select a specific niche then it becomes hard to Market
If you blog about something you love and know a lot about you will automatically have a niche that is great for you.
