It seems many other sites in my niche have a "Link to Us" page. I am trying to decide if I should add one as well. Do you think a "link to us" page is necessary to encourage others to link out to you?
I don't think a "link to us" page will help building backlinks. Personally I avoid using pages with the "link" keyword.
Yah, there's tons of other free link building tips and techniques out there that doing what everyone else is doing won't help. Reciprocal links aren't worth nearly as much as one-way links, so if you focus on reciprocal links, your work won't be worth as much as if you spend time finding one-way links. Hope that helps.
Yes it is helpful for your website. Not for a backward link purpose either it is useful for a link exchange purpose. once a webmaster see your link to us . Then most of the time webmaster already add your link on their website and send to invitation to you for a link exchange. then it is depend on you. You are interested or not.
Well it doesnt hurt to have one... And if you get a backlink or two because of it every month then what the heck thats better than nothing!
actually you may find that it might, if not now, then at some future point. google are (supposed to be) devaluing links pages out and any pages that look like they are designed to encourage artificial linking. i'd personally steer well clear, if people are going to link to you they know how to do it these days.
keep in mind that nothing is neccesery, its about what you want, if you want such a page add it, you dont want one then simply dont... common mistakes made by webmasters is that they just copy other sites and their whole site "personality" slowly disapears.
well for me its necessary.. since it will help you get your name out on the web. if you don't encourage others to link to you.. then how will others know? ;P
I don't think it is very good for backlinks in the SEs, but it is good for click-throughs. Many users like to have banners for the site, which they can put on their own site.
It's not necessary, but could be helpful. Sometimes it can come across as unprofessional or desperate.
Link pages aren't necessarily bad. Sometimes webmasters actually have links to websites that are very relevant and related. If you trade reciprocal links, then make sure they are with very relevant websites. For example if you run a car related website, trade links with a website that talks about car parts, NOT a website that talks about gardening.
I personally don't think you can afford NOT to have one. It isn't about reciprocal linking, it's about reminding visitors that they have the option of linking to you. And that counts for a lot.
I don't think you need the page. If your have a quality resource, you should attract links to your site regardless.
In some instances it could help... but I don't find it terribly helpful for backlink purposes... I would rather spend time writing content that people will just naturally link to...
Oh, this can be a good addition to my every single link development method known to man. Even though "link to us" page is not that effective. You are better of simply reminding your visitors to bookmark you.
