i have a .info but i have not launched the site as yet and i was wondering if i should go ahead with it because the name i have got is very good or should i switch to a .com..the thing i want to switch is because i wonder how effective a .info will be...any suggestions guys?
In the SERP it doesn't matter, but if you would like to establish your site as a "brand name" it will be better to go with .com
if the site name is good, you really should get the .com now before it's too late. Otherwise, .info will do just fine.
this sums it up perfectly! since a .com comes to mind first, you don't want people to go to the .com instead of your .info when the are actually looking for your site.
Personally I'd suggest you use the .com domain if it's available. It's easier to remember and .com domains are more popular.
If you are building a personal/hobby/fansite/forum type of site, .info will be just fine. If you are building a business, .com would be preferable IMO.
A .com name will get more visitors who just type in something in the URL window of their browser to find what they are looking for. But as most internet users find what they look for via search engines, the suffix is becoming less and less important.
.com would obviously be good for your site from the type-in traffic and brandability point of view, although .info would be fine too for a particular music genre site.
