Hey, Well the thing that got me into designer websites was the fact that I was a gamer and I made crappy little freewebs clan sites and to this day I still make gaming websites but just on a much more professional scale so to get out of gaming sites and starting a new niche seems a tough job and I don't know about much else so gaming is what I know best. My question is this, if I create an empire of gaming domains am I going to eventually make a good amount off of adsense to make a small living? Maybe it is just a dream to try and even think of living off of adsense but that is pretty much what I am doing anyway. I am guessing that I am going to see lots of replies telling me it is just too much work but lets see. It will be cool to hear from some people and your thoughts on this. Thanks!
If you create a gaming empire for adsense, that is a bad move. Game adsense ads pay very little... but you can make some good money from affiliate programs and selling ad space if your sites become successful.
How much are you looking to make? My Gaming website makes about 50/month, about 1 year old site. If you have are pacient and just work hard on your sites, you will reach the 500/month with about 12-15 sites within the first 3 months. Then again, you can be far from 500 with the sites, or above 500 with just 5 sites. It all depends on if you are willing to market the site.
gaming sites have to have killer interfaces, also i would try and get a good domain. say this domain is domain.com then you setup subs for each platform pc.domain.com psp.domain.com ps2.domain.com xbox.domain.com etc this would be all sites under the same umbrella. This is how the bigger sites do it. So my best advice is to start with one platform and as your community gorws add more platforms. As for advertising, i dont think adsense would be a good way of monitizing the site. I would be inclined to use some sort of affiliate advertising because gamers are probably looking for reviews on a game and then if they buy the game through your affiliate link after reading a review you could be making 5% on $50 game titles from amazon...
