Is a blog the best choice for this project?

Would a WP blog be a good idea to use for a business website. Something like a local store or contractor would have.
I have used frontpage and tried out some CMS like Joomla, and Post-Nuke and recently started playing around with WP and find it so much easier to use then the others.
The site would not be used so much for a blog but mostly static content like describing services and FAQ's, photo gallery.

This is the site I am using now. It is postnuke.

    Thanks. :)

Go for WP and don't think twice :) Less buggy than postnuke and loads of useful plugins.

you can use WP for this by using static page as home and create different pages and categories to show up your content, but it may bot be easier for you to remove publishing date if you dont want to show that

for a business site ( link online business card ) with mostly static content ( service/product catalogue ) i definitely would recommend hand coded static files to get the really maximum in page control and SEO out of each and every page.

I have started my site some 10+ years ago with only flat files and even now most of my content is still hand coded resulting in top SERPS.

after extended use and some additional experience you later may add a blog and/or forum for your "customers"

the most important is real heavy duty SEO to get every page when ever possible into the top 10-20 of all major SE. as well as a pleasant layout for each page to reflect the individual care your potential customers would receive.

Hm, I am always getting better SERPs with optimized Wordpress than with manually created static pages. Probably the reason is that I'm not as good in onpage SEO as you are :)

I would suggest a website with a blog attached to it! That way you will provide your web site with constantly updated content, of course that is all up to you.
