My google analytics is showing a 1.1% bounce rate for one of my blogs. Is a low bounce rate good or bad?
The definition of the bounce rate is according to Wikipedia: The bounce rate is expressed as a percentage, which varies from 0 % (the best) to 100 % (the worst). Note that the bounce rate varies per page and per day.
Thats what I thought but I wasn't sure. here's a screenshot of my google analytics. It's for the first website in my signature.
I'm amazed that a one week old website can have such an incredibly low bounce rate! My compliments to you! It looks like you've spend a lot of time optimising the content of your website before going live. Have you? And you've submitted your website to StumbleUpon two days ago, haven't you? The photographs from "Best Pictures of StumbleUpon" are nice; funny and beautiful. If your website relies heavily on photos and videos rather than written content, you should add the alt-attribute and title-attribute to your images and videos, in order to attract just that bit of extra visitors.
That is a good rate - keep doing what you're doing My site is a little different because it's a kind of directory so it's job is to send visitors to my users sites (giving them traffic) so this makes my bounce rate over 50%!
thanks for the replies guys! my website is older than one week though...I started it just after new years so it's almost 2 months old...but i just switched my stats counter to google analytics about a week ago.
It shows quality of the traffic, however if you want to acquire search engines traffic, you have to accept the fact, that your bounce goes up.
I am still having troubles believing your data...First time ever that I see a site with a bounce rate of less than 5%, and believe me I have gone through a lot of Adwords account and sites data over the last two years.
I have one site that is 40%, the other that is 50% even. May I ask what technique you used to recieve such a spike in traffic?
Most people get about 50% bounce rate. 1.1% sounds ridiculously good. You must have done some good job.
