Is 64MB RAM VPS Suitable for Running Proxy Sites?

I found this section to be the most related to my question, since it is targeted to people with experience in site & server administration. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I have found a company that offers VPS and I found a plan with good price that has 64MB RAM. Is it suitable for running proxy website (they are resource hungry) and possibly more than one proxy? If not, which plan should be best suitable for me (my budget is not big and I will consider the cheapest possible, so don't just advice me the biggest plan). I wont host already existing proxys. I will start brand new proxy sites at this host. What do you think? Here is the plan listing of the company:

I have no experience with this but I have read many posts that state that it is nowhere near enough.

In the posts I have read 256 and no cPanel has been indicated as about the minimum.

Yeah 64MB is not going to be enough to run a web server. There is overhead associated with just running all the services required to do proxy's. You're most likely going to need 256 or more to run proxy's.

So plan 4 from the link above would be most suitable for me. Thank you all for the fast response.

Personally, I'd never choose a low memory VPS for proxies at all. In fact proxies need much resources and VPSs inherently have lots of system overheads.

As you're just starting, I'd suggest going with specialized proxy hosts and later move on when you have much traffic. This'd fit your purpose and budget easily.

I am sure you will need a professional panel with your VPS..And if it is Linux,cPanel is the best choice imo..

You need at least 256 MB of RAM to have cPanel..If you will host just a proxy site i am sure it will be okay for you..

If not,you can make your plan with 512 MB of RAM..

Also,if you need a good and cheap VPS i highly recommend Hostforweb and Hosteasier..

    www.hostforweb.com - www.hosteasier.com

You will be really satisfied with them ;)

I know some linux distro might be not public but home made from LFS (linux from scratch) that need only 16meg disk drive to run and would'nt need much more as 32meg ram to run.
having only apache + php modul on such OS you would only need a good cpu :)
is'nt amazing how linux is powerfull.
srr i dont know what that distro is i'v read this article somewhere

Problem with a lot of those bare bone systems is they do not have the requires things to even compile and run Apache along with all the PHP modules need to run a proxy. Once you start adding those you'll find it's no longer that small of a foot print in terms of space at least.

Go with a gig to be comfortable in case you wanna run other processes too. And also if the proxy is only running on 64mb of ram that degrades performance. So the proxy will run very slow and laggy. People look for performance when it comes to proxies.
