That is around the going rate if you want it done correctly. 99% percent of what I see around DP is quite simply wrong.

I did however stumble across this thread yesterday. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2562111

If you require professional branding you may want to talk to those folks. That is very much indicative of how things are supposed to be thought about and done.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

if your a professional business (and not some 2 bit website), then i think its relatively 'cheap'.
I work for a company that had family member design their business logos for them, (partly as they thought paying $$$ was a rip) and that logo is now on shirts that we refuse to wear in public, the logo is crap, its embarrassing to be associated with it, and its one of the first thing clients see when they meet or contact the company.

Yet that logo is better then half the work that gets done on the forums here.

For a professional designer who has overhead that is pretty cheap. Most professionals put in a lot of time and work to make a quality logo for their clients. We don't just open up Illustrator, magically throw something on the computer and let the friendly little stork send it to the client. We have to research(a lot of it), sketch out ideas, go through the actual design process in Illustrator, create mock ups, create revisions etc. Not to mention presenting proper documentation to the client(contracts and invoices) and transferring logo copyright docs. So you factor all of that plus your overhead (roof over your head & food on the table) $500 is cheap.

You are going to be shocked as to what passes for a logo here.

Ethos, business models, shit.. even the task at hand is not a pre-requisite for the crap folks pay for here. Its nice to see someone who has an idea on how to churn out relevant graphics.

I personally think that's too much unless you are a company who brings in paper & $500 is chump change to you.

as said before the price is definetly reasonable if you are really looking for a logo representing your company and not only for a graphic created that has nothing to do with you CI. Depending on the size of the company prices can go way up.

That price is very high and overrated. You can get a good logo for $100. As I always say in such cases, go to a free lance website (there are many of them around) and post a job. You will get many proposals.

What a bunch of dissing people. That is completely reasonable price for great looking logo. If the guy you're talking to has a quality portfolio, and you're satisfied with what he had done for previous customers, then why not go for it? rather than paying for some crap for $5-$100.

i think logo price is a bit expensive but it also depends how detailed your work is, i also agree with GrapX2 but logo price is not cheap at all its a perfect price for a custom logo design.

you can either go with 10 x$50 logos or one $500 logo ... sometimes you get what you pay for.
