go to dnforum, looks like everyone is trying to sell .. do you think the 3 char domain madness is over?
Yeah that's right. From last 3 months I have seen that there are atleast 100 threads starting each day about selling their domains or developed sites. And due to this the average value of the domain name and developed sites has been hurt.
I guess all domains have been hurt due to no-sense registration of non pronounceable names, all that madness toward make millions with not worthy names.
Maybe due to the fact that a lot of people registered random 3 character names which didn't make any sense when put together but were registered only due to the recent 3 char domain madness.
3 character .coms will definitely only rise in value. The other extensions are never going to be as strong, and random letter/number combos with them should be approached with diligence, or knowledge that it may be several years to see a return. The only reason you are seeing people selling is due to the number of inexperienced domainers who saw this 'niche' of domains as a way to make a quick buck, whereas, like nearly all investments, it takes time. They wont die since there is actual re-sellers, they go round, but 3char domains with numbers are dying except .com's
Rare things have value even if it's a toothpick, much more domains names Don't forget that many people just collect domains, not for daily use but just to have them
I guess they are too impatient to just sit and wait. They want to sell them to have money for purchasing another domains.
I think some of you are missing the point about numbers in domains- what realistically makes qxz.com "better" than ys5.com? Nothing in my opinion. Resellers will pay more for a random all-letter combination, but even with numbers a 3 character domain can skyrocket in value overnight - think about it, many many new products come out and their model numbers frequently contain numbers, even things like mp3 were supposedly 'valueless' before. OK I am biased in this area, but I think most domainers realise that for the relatively small amount of a 3 character domain, it is worth the investment. To give another example, my mate recently went to a dance music festival in london, named after the postcode it was held at- sw4, now I'll bet the owner of sw4.com was getting a few hits when tickets for that were announced. 3 character domains, whether containing numbers or not, are short and memorable, and as such, will always retain value in the .com market.
gingeman the value of the domains is defined from the uniqueness of the name LLL = 17,576 combinations Various Combinations of NNN LNL ... = 29,080 LLL are the thoroughbred that's why they cost more If you are lucky and have a distinguishable N & L combination then well done
