Hey everyone, Do you think $25 an hour is too low for doing basic SEO for a company? I'd be doing things like link development, social media content creation, and some on page SEO stuff. I've been running my businesses for myself for so long, that I've never really done any outside consulting before, so I really don't know how to much to ask for at this point. Any insight is appreciated.
Thats really only a question that you can answer. Try answering some of these questions to figure it out... What is your time worth to you? What are they willing to pay? What would you be doing with your time otherwise? Are you eager to get work to build your portfolio? Is this a large project with many hours? Will this work aid you in ways other than monetary? Like build relationships and contacts. I hope that helps you.
It really depends on the quality of your service. If this is your first contract in years then maybe that's a reasonable price. If you've been doing this for years then it's probably low. If you're not very good at it then it's a very high price.
Not just the quality of services but also the reputation in the industry. More popular SEO guys can demand higher rates.
I recently sold one of my sites and now the person I sold to wants me to do some SEO for them, because they've seen that I've done a really good job in recent months with my SEO efforts. So like I said, I've been doing this for myself for so long that I really don't know what it should be worth to other. I feel like $25 an hour is a little low considering I've had good results with my SEO efforts, but I would be happy with that. I just don't want them to baulk at my $25 an hour price and not have some insight as to what others are charging.
Your services are worth what the buyer will pay. You need to price your services on what they will pay, what you bring to the company in value, and your desire to either get in the door or maintain a long term client relationship. Only you can determine what your services are worth and the buyer will either accept your rate or they will refuse it. Be prepared to show samples of what you have done and can do. Don't give away your tricks or secrets.
it really deponds $25 would be enough to keep a person and get him work 9-5 and he will do all the work of link building etc!! $25 for a month!! and you are talking about an hour, so i guess in india service is really cheap. am launching cheap seo services pretty soon, cheers!!
$25 is fair. Even if you think it's a little low since you haven't done work for others before it's better to go a little beneath what you feel to be fair market value imo.
rate per hour will depend on how much hours you are required to spend working for them. Besides to confirm what exactly will be the amput of work. For instance how many articles/content you will need to write, how many links you will have to secure for them etc? Write it all in the contract, if you have any with them, to avoid possible confision later on.
Depends where you are located (country) $25 is peanuts here but it could be a lot of money where you are.
yes it dose matter a lot, but then the exchage rates are going down, and the transaction rates are high. tax is too much, it looks like, our government don't want us to do any online business!!
Charge by project is more reasonable. It is really difficult to measure how much time you use for SEO. For example, for a link development compaign, you could say it took you 3-4 hours to submit the site to 200 directories, which should cost you more than $100, but actually, you could use some services which costs you less than $20. bear
I'd say $25 is VERY cheap if you're good and can guarantee results. Why? Because you could make tons more money doing your own stuff.
If my area if I charged that they would think that I am a kid with no skills looking for a fast buck. All depends on who you are going to market to. The majority of my SEO business comes from small businesses regionally close to me, lots of word of mouth. Right now I farm out over half of my work because I have too much. If I charged that little I wouldn't make any profits
