Is $2.99 domain registration at Yahoo cheap? I realized that it is a special offer. But is there any downside to register at yahoo?

right now im having problems with the "auto-renew" option, in fact there is no such a thing, in one year they will get the money from your credit card.
I'm still trying to solve this, im going to post more info.

    2.99 is cheap.

Yahoo does have auto renew, but you can disable it.

HOWEVER, I personally choose to pay more and get better service.

Out of 300 domain names, maybe 12 are at yahoo.
200+ are at Moniker which runs circles aorund Yahoo in terms of domain name services.

For one domain, which you won't be moving aournd and changing dns much. Then Yahoo is probally a pretty good deal at $2.99
At renewal they'll probally tap you for $10-$14.
BUT, there is talk that starting in 2007, domain name registrations prices will increase for everyone, at a rate of 10% per year. So 2.99 domains may not ever be seen again.

    The short version is....
you have to shop for price and quality. Seldom will you get both for very long.
