Is 2,000 Words TOO Long?

I was thinking of creating the "pillar" post for new gambling blog that I am thinking of creating. I already purchased the domain name, I just need to buy some hosting. I was wondering if what would be strategic to create 2000 word post, or would it be better to break them up into four 500 word post. What do you think my best option would be? do lengthy post really help your page rank in the google search engines? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

In my opiniton as long as the post is really good you could get it into 500 - 700 words. This should be enough unless you know your reader are going to like reading a longer post then you could try 2000 but i would say that would be too long.

you see my reasoning for 2000 word posts would be to give a very broad and large overview of all the components in the topic of online gambling. It wouldn't go as a blog post, it would probably go as a separate page of my blog for people to refer to it. Then the little or poster the 500 word posts would revolve around the main 2000 word post. This can help build inbound links as well because I could link each post to this section in the 2000 word post that it is related to. I don't know if this would be helpful or smart, I really don't know that much about blogging except my own common sense and what I've read on the internet. I do know a lot about gambling though. I know that my readers for gambling blog would have a short attention span because they are used to being entertained so I don't actually expect anyone to read the 2000 post, I just expect it to stand as a reference for all my other blog post and to help me build inbound links.

Maybe it would be a better idea to break up the 2000 word post into separate categories and make those categories as pages in my blog then when I write a topic related to those pages I can crate and almonds by linking to the particular page that it is related to. This way my blog is not oversaturated with a long useless post.

I think I might be over thinking this, it is always useful to get other people's opinions. Hence why I posted this topic. I am also formulating an idea for an e-book that I will sell here on digital point based on my marketing abilities and what I've deducted from common sense. There aren't enough people here on Digital point that use knowledge and common sense to their advantage, so I figure I can help those people out and either make money off of the e-book or give it away for free. I don't know what I'm going to do yet but, I am going to try it and actually write an e-book.

anyway at this point I'm just rambling so I'm going to press the post button and get feedback from this post.

I would split them into 4 posts and post them over 4 days at the exact same time of day. Then continue posting everyday at the same time, this way google will get use to your blog updating at the same time of everyday.

I agree, split them up and turn them into a post series (which can still work as 'pillar' articles).

Depends on what your readers are accustomed to, are they willing to read long articles of content, or are they just looking for quick updates?

I'd say split them up. I think you can only et away with posts that long if you are doing some kind of opinion piece for a news site.

As I see it, a 500 word write-up or article would suffice to convince your online visitors about your argument and report. In these times, there are millions of articles available on the Web. So, it's hard to seize your reader's loyalty unless he wants to pore over an exciting novel.

It's not not bad as long as you write quality content in that article...but, if you're trying to put as many keywords as you can, then..it's bad.

I think if the quality is really good then a 2000 word post would work, as long as you break the paragraphs up so it looks "sticky" and clean. If the content is just okay and not very very interesting then I would suggest breaking them up like you say. Also if you are covering a broad range of gambling topics then you should split them up but if you are zooming in a certain part then post the 2000 word one.
