Is 1and1 hosting typically slow to process orders?

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I picked up a domain name through 1and1 rather then yahoo and I still haven't received my confirmation email and they haven't taken the 6.99 out of my paypal. Everything was completed, I had my receipt and everything.

1&1 is generally regarded as one of the worst hosting providers out there.

If you are real lucky they will lose the order refund any money paid and you can go to a reputable site to buy and a different one to host.

Sorry. That is just the truth of the situation.

It takes around a day to register your domain.
Then it takes another day to take your money from your PayPal account.

Well I typically register my domains through yahoo but I decided to do it somewhere else and was told by a partner about 1and1, 6.99 for a domain name, not too bad.

I already have host gator, so far so good but if things really start to pick up, imountain here I come.

They're terrible about getting things registered. When I used to use them it took forever to process a registration. Once, they even stalled the start of the process for 8 hours, during which someone in Panama "mysteriously" registered all of the domains in the order until I bitched (loudly) about them doing that (they hadn't delayed before starting in the past at all) - then the guy let them all go (less than 24 hours) and they processed it immediately. They're beyond screwed up.

I've never registered a domain with them as far as I can remember, but I host with them right now and a while ago, I was trying to set up an SSL certificate but I didn't want to go all the way. Before I could change my mind and back out, the order had been placed. I tried calling support but they placed me on terminal hold. It took almost a month for them to charge me for it, but when I called to cancel it and get a refund I got it from the second person I talked to.

Fuck, I hope everything goes well with my one domain name so I can hurry up and point the DNS servers to HG and I'll be on my way.

they are slow but cheap. if i'm not in rush, i register my domain thru them and host with my existing hosting account with other host. reason they are slo is bacause they do it thru some other 3rd party register. sometimes it may take them half a day to process your registration

It takes 1-2 days sometimes. Changes to your own NS takes 1-2 day too.

But it is cheap and ok if you have pacience :)

Yes, they're cheap, but so are other registrars (like Netfirms - which is quicker, and one I've never had an issue with - I use 3 registrars for most of my domains). So being cheap is no excuse for days-long delays and all of 1&1's other screw-ups.
