I am looking at a keyword rich name that gets 1600 exact searches per month. How many bookings do you guys think i can get with that per month, provided im nr1 on google ? Expedia offers 5% on the total booking. i would guess people might book 5 nights avg. and hotel rooms are about 100 per night. 5% of $500 = $25 Any Thoughts ?
Nowhere near enough info. Is it a buying keyword? What is the competition like? Will your site look quality enough compared to competition (people wont buy through a amateur site)? On top of that I am afraid my tourist industry knowledge is not even close to good enough, but before you go all out consider those, and if there are many related keywords you can tap into.
Well the site will be able to compete in terms of quality. i went ahead and got the domian. it was only $10 www . capeverde-hotels . com 22k broad searches 1600 exact searches I believe the tourism industry there is gonna take off. I think i can beat the competition if i focus on SEO is there some equation like 1 booking per 1000 visitors?
I don't know many people that would stay on average 5 nights. Here would be my math based on the information you provided. You will get somewhere around 80% of the total traffic on average, Google is a little bloated it seems, but lets assume you make up for it in other longterm keywords. 1600 x .8 = 1280 Visitors per month (43 per day on average) I stay on the conservative side and assume you are going to get about 2 conversions per 100 visitors 1280 x .02 = 26 conversions I would say average is going to be 2 nights (some will stay slightly longer, but several will only stay one night). You will make $5 per night based on your numbers above, so on average around $10 per conversion. That is $250 - $260 per month. Not bad, worth the effort. That is particularly the case if you have an exact match domain name that is .com, .net, or .org
Is the video high quality... is the keyword a good buyer keyword... In my experience 1600 search is not enough to make anything substantial, especially if the video links to a sales page.. I would definately be building a list with the traffic...
I wouldn't think 1600 searches per month is enough to base a major business of off. Looking at PHPGator's calculations, I'd say he's probably about right but maybe even a little generous. Don't think that 1600 searches is going to give you a sustainable income, but it would be enough to be worth building a small side site that doesn't take much of your time. Figure out how many hours a month you'll need to be spending on it, and break that down to an hourly rate using the $250/mo figure.
I'm also inclined to agree with PHPGator's estimates. Whether it's "enough" or not really depends on what you're going for. If you want to create a single business out of this site, then I'd say that's too low. However, if you're just looking at adding another money-making site to your portfolio, depending how much effort it will take to keep the site up it would probably be a nice asset.
Well, for me, I'm not throwing all my eggs in one basket (although lots of people do, and if you're making enough money, I don't have an issue with it). I've got sites that have generated over $15,000 in revenue each year, but I don't mind have several lower income sites to generate the total of what I bring in each month. If I see something that might make money, I'd say go after it. If he has an EMD, the competition isn't too high, he doesn't think he is going to have to do a ton of work to get to the top and/or stay there, then $250 per month is a nice addition to anyone's list of websites that they own. If all else fails, let the website generate that money each month, then turn around and sell it on flippa or in these forums for 5K and go do it again. My assumption is that he isn't going to have to do a lot of work. Build some content around the keyword, throw it up on the website, buy some high PR backlinks to throw at it, and he is probably going to rank fairly well assuming the competition isn't too competitive and he's got an EMD. I will admit that my numbers could be a little bit generous, but I think they are realistic. Cut it in half, it's still $1200 per year and the website is still generating revenue you didn't have before. That's the way I look at it, not trying to argue or disagree with any posts here.
I think "enough" was the wrong word to use. what i meant was is it worth the effort and will it make anything at all ? PHPGators calculation seem realistic. i would be happy with half. my goal is to set up many small sites like this. You guys have been very helpful. Thank you for your input
If you make $5 off every exact search, 1600 searches is more than enough. If you make $0 off every exact search, 1600 searches in not even close to enough.
I have a few sites that generate between $200 and $300 a month off of about 1600 exact match searches. I don't see the issue there?
You will need to find what other exact match keywords go into making up the broad search, broad search by itself isnt that useful, just indicative of other keywords and the ability to get long tail keywords
Have to look at it this way: 1600 is not a lot, no. But if you're finding buyer related keywords without a lot of competition then it's absolutely worth it. 10 "1600 a month" keywords turns into 16,000 a month. And these are usually a LOT easier to rank for. These low competition keywords can have a ton of value if you know what you're doing.
The exact matches a month can be good if the traffic can convert, it's not so much how much traffic a month but how well it can convert
