Is 1:100 conversion ratio is good?

So, basically, wanted to ask affiliates, is this kind of conversion rate is good or no? The niche is highly competitive. Or it could be better?

That's the average conversion rate for any product. Sometimes it's less, sometimes more. You can always improve your conversion rate, it also depends on your promotion method.

I am assuming that you are doing PPC? Work on your keywords and/or landing page, if you have one.

%1 overall conversion ratio is okay, but it could always be better.

SEO mostly. No PPC. I'm still new to this game, and certainly I will try to improve that ratio. Thanks for explaining.

Hey although 1 sale out of 100 hops is usually the norm check against what the description says in the clickbank marketplace and also on the sales page to see what some people are current converting it at.

I don't trust any of those descriptions. I've read enough 1/15 conversion rate claims to know they are full of crap.

My product is currently converting at 1/100 - Maybe that won't bring in the affiliates as fast - but at least it's the truth.

Those descriptions are just a way to promote the product ;) I never believe any word, which describes a product in the marketplace. I just do my own testing.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying - I was responding to montiuk who was saying it was a good idea to compare your conversion rates to those mentioned in the description. I think that's a total waste of time because 9 times out of 10 (at least) those conversion rates are pulled straight from the behind of the vendor :)

When I see a vendor claiming 1/15 or 10% conversions I just roll my eyes. But I must admit when I was a more naive beginner I used to get quite excited by those numbers. Until I would run a PPC campaign and get 0 in 1000 conversions for the same product they were claiming got 10% conversions :)

I never trust the merchants conversion rate numbers anymore. Too many outside factors can affect the results.

With my product, Simple Water Car, I have several affiliates doing about 1:35-1:50 via pay per click. One in particular is making a sale almost every hour. I ran a campaign bidding about $.50 per keyword on Adcenter and I got 1:60. I dropped my max CPC down to $.20 and am still converting at 1:80. I must admit that I'm a complete novice at PPC though.

It all depends on the source of traffic.
If you use adwords for xxx keywords, you may get a/100
If you use adwords for yyy keywords, you may get b/100
If you use article and your article quality, call to action, landing page are good, you may get c/100
If you use article and your article quality, call to action, landing page are bad, you may get d/100

I have sometime promote products on yahoo answers and get 1/300
And on articles for some product I get 1/500
I have get 1/25 from adwords for xxx keywords
I have also get 1/4 from my signature

It depends on your traffic quality
The more laser is your traffic, the more good it will convert.

And 1/100 is the basic range that you must satisfied with

    Cheers

I'm doing 1:16 with one product I'm promoting currently so it is totally possible (all organic traffic), it's all got to do with the pre sell.

I was thinking of promoting water4gas type of products, but I am not sure if YSM accepts that....Do you know anything about? I know that Adwords, doesn't allow it anymore...

I agree that it's possible to have a conversion rate that high in certain situations - I have a conversion rate that high myself in some situations. And I could cherry pick data and say that one of my affiliates for my product (in my sig) has 1 in 7 conversions. But it's still very misleading for a vendor to say that a product has an overall conversion rate that high.

But yes... I agree with the gist of the argument - There's a lot of factors to consider when talking about conversion rates and really that's why an overall conversion rate doesn't mean that much.
