Irresponsible, unreliable, freelancers on Digital Point! Never again.

Ok, I'm writing this incredibly pissed off right now. I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE SAYING THEY CAN DO A JOB WITHIN A SPECIFIED TIME FRAME AND IT NEVER GET'S DONE! That's even if they finish it all, or do it the right way!!

I own a Web Design company and outsource a lot of work, and I have been using DP as a means to do that. However I will not do it anymore. The majority of people on this forum that say they can do a job, NEVER DO, or it NEVER GETS DONE ON TIME.

FOR EXAMPLE: I contracted a guy to do a Wordpress coding job that needed to be done on FRIDAY (last friday). I told him that I needed it specifically that day, and to tell me up front if it couldn't be done because I would then find someone else who could.

Well needless to say he got me the coded psd within 6 hours so I was pretty happy, but now I go to install the theme and it isn't coded properly, it doesn't look anything like the original PSD and it just doesn't work!!!!

Now my client's up my ass, and I'm reaping the wonderful rewards of trusting someone that I obviously shouldn't have.

The beautiful thing to this story is I emailed him back with everything that was wrong with it, and what needed to be fixed and he replied back with this answer:

there in bangladesh national holidy for "Muslim Eid festival" "2008-12-08- to 2008-12-12" so i m sorry i do not do it right now . if u wait until 2008-12-12 i can do it. ortherwise i m sorry.

What a joke. I'm sure there are some good ones on this forum, but I can't seem to find them. If you know anyone out there that is reliable and good at what they do (CSS / XHTML coding to Wordpress) please let me know. I can't afford to waste any more time on these novice unreliable idiots.

When a work is contracted out it needs to be done on time, Yes. But many a times there a genuine reasons behind the delay of the work.

However, intentional delays like the above case is seemingly Idiotic and nothing else.

The case in point is plain, blatant idiocy and nothing else. National Holidays hold no importance for international freelancers. And if a freelancer is against working on NHs, they should clear it before anything else.

But there are something, some people just refuse to understand :)

I am sorry to hear about your project delay, let me know your requirements and I will give you a good deal with a fast turn-around time.

Sorry to hear of your problems and I commiserate with you on that count. Believe it or not, but it works both ways here at DP. I run about a 30% get-ripped-off rate for people not paying for the writing I do for them here.

Best bet is to do a little research on them before hiring them. Usually a check of the comments in their iTrader's will give you an idea of who will take care of you properly.

Just don't paint us all with the same brush you use for a few bad eggs, that paint splatters both ways.

    Take care and good luck.

Sad and bad to hear that. But I'd like to advise you here. Never give your freelnacer the same deadline that you had from your clients. Get your job done at least 2 days in advance so that you've some space for revision or re-work if required. And jobs in hurry hardly make a good deal. I'm sorry for you and I can very well understand your situation but these things must be discussed with freelancers beforehand. On National holidays, no comments because it shouldn't make much difference. Most of the freelancers work on off days (provided they don't outsource further :) )

I'm sure you'll get someone who'll fix the issue and do a good quicvk job for few bucks. It's worth spending few bucks than losing your client :)

    Chill & Cheers!

I agree with anything or anywhere allow at least 2 days from the actual time you give the freelancer to the deadline

Well, There IS an Eid starting tomorrow.

And ya, the holiday will end on 11-12-2008 ;).

But if he said he will finish it before that, Then you have all the right to yell at him.
