Once again, I have run across some competition who have links coming to their sites from irrelevant sites, and somewhere along the bottom of the site that links to them, are the keywords that link to their site. I know this is not the correct way, but will people doing this, ever get caught.
every backlink will help you to get better serp but irrelevant links will help you less than related links but they will help you
