irrelevant backlinks

do irrelevant backlinks really carry no weight? like backlinks from other, unrelated niches linking to my site doesn't matter in Google's eyes?

for example, if i link my site on this page, it won't boost my SERPs or PR at all?

 

as long as the link is not form a bad neighborhood, it will carry certain weight. relevant links just worth more in the eyes of google

 

If your site have lot of irrelevant out-bond backlinks, there is a probability to get punish from Google.

 

PR juice pass to your site is same although your backlink site is irrelevant. However, for the SERP, the irrelevant backlink help less compare to relevant backlink

No, irrelevant backlink never helps you to get hight ranking in SERP. You should have to create more and more backling from the relevant site. This will also create your good image in your visitor's eyes. They would love to follow and also increases your site's traffic.

 

All backlinks are worthy, and content doesn't matter. Dofollow vs. nofollow is what will effect your page rank and domain rank, though. Look for dofollow links, they carry more weight.

there is not much juice in irrelevant links - they are still oranges though ...I'd just keep it natural if I approach link building...to me a natural growth of the backlink structure includes that you get links that are somewhat irrelevant. However if you don't do your SEO right and just go for quantity you are bound to have way too many irrelevant links pointing to your site and that will at least wave a flag and making google to stay on your case...

 

I think the natural way a site gets backlinks is a mix of relevant and irrelevant, so to appear natural to Google your way of building them is a mixture of both too. If you devote all your time to get only relevant backlinks Google will get suspicious about your site of using tricky methods and it would be punished by losing Rank.
