Hi, I recently integrated Adsense into my Age of Empires 3 website. I have a couple of casino links which where there from the previous owner which I will remove once their payment date expires. THe problem I am having is that irrelevant adds appear on most pages and unfortunately most are about casinos. The site has a main page where all the news and latest info is displayed and from there you can goto the forums. Anyone know how to get rid of those damn casino/poker ads? I even took off those URL momentarily and that didn't help. If I copy the static HTML and create a static page I get totally different but more relevant ads. This is such a blow back for dynamic sites, even though I knew Adsense is not dynamic content friendly. Anyone have any ideas or sugestions?
You should remove those casino links NOW before you get banned for them. Linking to casino affiliates is a major no-no on any page with Adsense on it. If you have to, refund the link owner his/her money, but I would advise you to quickly remove those gambling links, or remove any Adsense currently on the same page as those links. (Yes, I know, it's silly, especially since there are casino ads, but that's Adsense for ya.) Concerning irrelevant links, if you are a new publisher, it will take anywhere from a day to a week before Google can start sending you more relevant ads. It is my theory that the first time it scanned your page, Google stuck your URL into a category (in this case, casino-related), so that's where you'll stay until you remove all casino items and Google stuffs you into another category. That all depends on when Google will return to spider your site. This is a very common problem with all new Adsense publishers.
I started to get some weird ads last week that I simply couldn't pin down to why they were there. I went over my pages with the magnifying glass looking for possible keywords that would trigger these ads but I still coulnd't find out what my motorsport site had to do with "Sexy asian women photo gallery" or "Sexy latina women photo gallery". I haven't seen them lately, but it was kind of disturbing to see such ads on my site.
I had the same problem yesterday, all my targetted ads disappeared and I started getting the generic ringtone, blog ads, but luckily, all my normal ads came back today.
The ringtone guys are really hacking up Adsense lately. I guess ringtones is the "new" big biz for affiliate marketers out there at the moment...
I agree ringtones is huge, and to be a successful publisher I think you have to know the new trends. Working for a company that is bleeding edge I will let you greate people know that mobile games are hot or will be very soon ( definately next gen mobile devices). Cheers!
Do you have any proof of this? I don't target that market as it's stupidly competitive but I've never seen any proof that anything like that will give you a penalty.
