what gets me is that in this iraq study group, there are no military men....so how would they be the best to know if the situation in iraq is improving?

The Iraq Study group are all old codgers ready for their coffins mate, but even though most of them probably smell of wee they even managed to figure out that the Iraq situation is a disaster.
The thing is, most of us have known that for over 2 years.

The Bush administration has reversed itself over the last few years and accepted the Iraq Study Group suggestion to meet with Iran and Syria.

Thats not what Tony Snow said yesterday. He insisted that the Bush clan made 'many contacts' with Iran since 2002 and that these new upcoming talks have been arranged by the Iraq 'government'.

All the whitehouse does is blurrb out some meaningless rhetoric and the press just laps it up.

The Whitehouse spokes person said yesterday when referring to the upcoming talks with Iran and Syria "as a matter of fact we have been going the diplomatic route all along".

If you go back a few months you will hear them say the exact opposite many times over.

Heres what Bush had to say about his presidency in an indepth interview on February 12, 2007:

STEVE SCULLY: Outside of declaring war in Iraq, what's been your hardest decision?

George W. Bush: The fact that -- the war decision overshadows all. I can't really come up with one right now.

It should be pretty clear to anyone who really follows US politics that Bush doesn't actually do anything and the administration habitually lies.

I agree mistemix. Despite what Tony Snow says this is a significant change in policy.

There were two statements there. Looks like one fit the bill, by your own admission anyway.

It's not a habit. Each one of them means something...

so since Bush is following the advice of the Iraq study group....I guess that makes him part of what you call the Iraq surrender group.
