Although the prime minister knows that he developed many of his powers through shia fundamentalists,...he knows that their support hardly is in comparison to US support. Sort of reminds me of the Pakistan situation we had (right after 9/11). We basically told the leaders there that they're either going to cooperate or they're going to be looked down upon...deeply. The leader of that country has developed many fundamentalist enemies, but he gained the one ally he needed....America. Unfortunately there still are province we haven't reached in Pakistan (like Iraq), which need to be dealt with. Nows time to ante-up Al-Maliki. If a follow-through can occur, that would help. The political correct fighting of this war has hampered a lot of their methods...especially the idea of favoring one group over the other. Apply force equally to the nuts. Eventually they need to focus on unification orders. Penalizing anyone that doesn't follow orders. That and pushing as many different religious people together. Obviously that won't be extremely easy, but it's must. I sort of dislike Ted Kennedy's thoughts on this. He said this was Bush's Vietnam. I believe Bush was wrong in starting this war...atleast at the time he did. But vietnam was far more harder to fight, since we had both a state military [North Vietnam] fight against us...and gorilla fighter aka charlie. We lost that war not because we were incapable...Congress 1)gave-up on it 2) Wouldn't mount a practical offensive to enter North Vietnam. My personal feelings are this region of the world was not worth fighting for. Iraq's different. Now while oil reserves through the middle east region are high, we aren't the ones fully dependent on those sources. Europe, Japan, and China are. Any sort of huge regional conflict would immediately effect our trade partners...and us consequently. People will hopefully eventually admit (while they don't agree with Bush) there has to be some relative means of keeping that from happening...or we'll be right back there again....under condtions that will be harder to control. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070111/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq
Ted Kennedy is the prime example of a useless congressman...he got away with murder (literally), his family is alcoholics who get away with drunk driving, and the people of Mass are dumb enough to continue re-electing him...Ted Kennedy never has a good thought about anything, unless it is food.
