Sounds like they're preparing for an assults on the insurgency. I kind-of like the fact that Maliki has banned gun use on the street (and perhaps in general). I'm a libertarian at heart, but these guns aren't a part of stability in any sense...they're just used in chaos.

    I want to fly it....

Anyone got 2 million dollars to loan me?

Well, they're a rich country...in resources that is. Get that going, and keep the security tight.

Sounds like propaganda to me, a prelude to our withdrawal which is happening right now!

The surge is also propaganda by the pentagon!

That $1.5 billion is not going to the US people, it goes to the weapon producers so it cannot be propaganda:D

We should have done this a couple of years ago, we haven't been fighting to win. Now is our moment of truth, we either beat this enemy or we're toast.

Nice post Rick but it should have read "The United States government has placed a $1.5 billion order with the United States for additional military equipment." ;)

Lebanon is proof that stupid treaties don't work. Israel unfortunately lost the most recent battle.

And Gerald Ford is pardening everyone involved!!! Now not only is the US doing this according to AGS, but he says Iraq is not capable of doing something like this...since when did the US Declaration of Independence include the territory of Iraq? I didn't know it did AGS.

When I went to the keys and did a helicopter tour, the pilot said his little helicopter costs about $700/hour to run. Can you believe it? You have to replace the rotors (FAA regulation) every XX operating hours. I had no idea they cost so much to operate or that the actual rotors ever needed replacing. I always thought helicopters were pretty cheap. Boggles the mind.

Agreed. Nixon DID board a military chopper after he resigned afterall. There's your link right there.

Politically, yes. The American public can't stomach even the smallest of conflicts.

But I think people are to held-up in their own perception, drama or bias. The big picture sort-of fades away.

Heli's are expensive. Actually sales of just a 10 or so...are news in heli magazines. Fuel consumption is outrageous, even for the smallest of heli's. Although I'm personally convinced they are miracles in the sky. I believe they saved 10's of thousand in Korea.

Nixon's always tainting everything badly. Damn Nixon.
