Just for the record, the SAS patrol that was under 'deep cover' were challenged by an Iraqi police patrol and ended up held in an Iraqi police gaol. Remember, this was the SAS -- and they ended up being held by police? Special Forces v's Police? So they didn't hand themselves in when they realised it was the regular Iraqi police they had been exchanging fire with? The Iraqis in charge refused to hand them over to UK forces, ergo, they went and got them out. I question the grounds for going to war. The so-called evidence was fabricated. One thing I do not question are the troops on the ground. They deserve and should get, the full support of everyone they represent.
I agree with the government part of what you are saying and I believe that is the point I made, but we still need to show our support for the troops who are there even if they do not want to be. As for Black Ops, that is something that is unfortunately always going to happen. Sometimes they are needed, but when members of any government carry out operations designed to keep the fighting men and women in a dangerous and unnecessary situation those individuals should be found and dealt with as if traitors. Usually these operations are being done for the benefit of solely becoming rich at the expense of human lives. So should we give our support to the government on this war? No. Why? Well the government knew going into Iraq that the information they were giving us was false. Should we have taken out Saddam? Yes. Is it going to get better in Iraq? It is hard to say at this point or even 5 years from. As long as we did not remove one dictator only to have him replaced by someone worse will there be at least some measure of success on that portion of the campaign. Should we give our support to our troops who are there via the governments orders? Yes. No matter your opinion of our government leaders at the moment the troops are there doing a job they ordered to do. They deserve our support and so do the people of Iraq that actually want peace. There are always going to be those in every country that do not want peace for one reason or another. Hopefully this will change someday.
You must be kidding, mentioning to mia if Bush has done anything wrong. He gave mia his house through welfare checks and mia prays five times a day toward his Texas ranch as Muslim do toward mecca. If you don't believe it, here is the picture.
How long? I don't think the nazis had to many outside countries funneling them guns , money and soldiers either What "snake", if by snake you mean militant islam, Saddam hated the militant islamists as much as us.
So are you saying that Saddam was ok? What made his form of terrorism any different than the militant islamists?
I'm not sure where I said that, could you please quote it Umm well mostly because he terrorize his own people, were the Islamist we are supposed to be fighting against attack us.
Just a question about your opinion of him in general is all. That still does not make it right. Terrorizing your own people is the same as helping terrorist in other countries do the same thing to another people. The only difference about his form of terrorism is that he openly did it as the leader of a country that he led by fear and intimidation. Some will argue that this was ok because it kept the militants in line, but what about all the innocent people he had irradicated over the years that he was in power or tortured because their views were not the same as his.
The rebuilding of Germany after WWII actually dates back to post WWI. A LONG TIME! Nah, instead they just had all of Europe sitting around doing nothing while they invaded country after country. In fact, most Eurpean nations where gladly participating in the "cleansing" process as well. Saddam = "snake"
Actually I don't think it is, there are dozens of oppressive terrible régimes all over the world, many in Africa, Middle East, and Asia. And many of them don't seem to be included in the "war on terror". In fact we buy and sell stuff to some them, even guns and weapons. So it does not appear that the statement "Terrorizing your own people is the same as helping terrorist in other countries", at least in terms of the US foreign policy Yeah that and he did much of his bad deeds while he was our ally and while we selling guns and chemicals. Well I don't know if it’s "ok" but perhaps the only way to hold together a place like Iraq is an authoritarian régime, or at least the easiest way.
I agree that we should have stopped him years ago. In fact as a soldier during the first Gulf War we wanted to remove him then, but of course Bush would not do it. Also I agree that there are many terrible regimes out there that need removed from power. Unfortunately we have to choose which ones are a bigger threat to the overall peace of the world. Is the guy in Africa who has small arms more of threat then a guy in another country who has the possibility of nuclear or chemical weapons. The obvious choice is going to be the one that has the weapons of mass destruction or the potential of them, but it does not make the other dictator any less evil. I think that our President used terror as an excuse to remove Saddam from power due to the attempt on his fathers life years back. So it could be argued that the war was more a vendetta then a war on terrorism. However, this is pure speculation as we really do not know all the facts or what he was told by his Intelligence people at the time. I think there was a strong combination of people with influence who had hidden agendas that were most likely best served by us removing him and having a prolonged stay there, but again this is pure speculation.
Iraq in its present state is more of threat to world peace then saddam ever was, don't you think? Its recruitment and training center for every want to be jihadist in the Middle East. They are coming there from all over and learning to make bombs, detonators etc For everyone we kill, ten more are learning to take there place. They are getting better at making remote control bombs, and they can pretty much keep the present pace of violence up forever, can't they?
I'm sure bush and co never saw that coming Sure is... I'm sure bush will plead ignorance Anyone who thinks we've done anything good over there is insane...
Even if he was an atheist what does that have to do with the way he treated the people of his own country. The training of terrorists is ongoing in many countries. They practice their skills and then put them to unfortunate use in Iraq right now. The people who are signing up to do terrorism would most likely have done so anyways. Yes they may have done so sooner due to the invasion of Iraq. Have we done any good? Yes and No. Yes because Saddam can no longer terrorize his people and kill them with Chemicals and other methods. No because we are now fighting the extremists that are loyal to his way of rule and our soldiers are paying with their lives every week. Can we back out now and say we did anything good? Hard to say that either. Only time is going to tell if we made a much better country or a more unstable one than the one we initially invaded. The middle east has always been at war with each other and the west. The problem comes to the question. How long can we sit by and ignore the extremist of any country before they do something that is really going to kill alot of people? So right or wrong now we have to deal with the consequeces of our governments actions.
